A log by MIDMO

You seem like a perfectionist, and someone who wouldn't compete unless you were hitting it up 6 days a week. If you can get it out of your head what the other guys are doing, I think there's still opportunity for you to compete and do well. (don't make me repeat that gay quote about training smarter, not harder)

I will say your right cause you are.

I think I have been training smarter recently. I've spent more time focusing on strength which I'm lacking and trying to focus my mental game more. The techincal end I don't worry about as much as I should as I feel that its physicallality I'm lacking. Although I think about it more than I should.

I just have a problem even thinking about my oppentant will be more prepared than I am. I've always been that way driven in many respects and completely out of focus in others. Not sure why.

Are you feeling pressure more because you can see those guys progressing at a faster rate than you, or because you just can't hang with them lately? Lots of factors to consider (everyone goes through progressions and plateaus, everyone stalls, etc. Are they similar bodyweights?)

Yes I do feel like I'm falling behind. And I'm a little jealous over how much time they get to pursue what they do.

The physical end is the big one for me right now. I just feel weak and slow in comparision in over the last six months. Although I have caught back up alot recently.

Of the regulars here there are only two locally that are near my size, then several larger and a herd smaller. I think alot of it is the student has become the master sydrome. I use to help train most of these guys and now I don't feel in control on the mat anymore. I don't nessacary lose very often just don't do as well as I want.

Alot of this started after my last belt promotion, all of a sudden I felt like I have to be better all the time. which I know I can't do but still feel like I should. I realize what I'm thinking is stupid.

Change will come its just a matter of figuring out a trigger. One of the guys threatened to put a shock collar on me yesterday to motivate me. I realized he may not be far off to what I need.

I sometimes think that I realize I'm safe and I can alway quit with no penatly which is so dif then my real life experence, but that is just one theory I have.

I could claim this work out was acessory work for my bench but it was plain old vanity lifts with some grip thrown in. But when I was done I felt jakt, now if I could just change out my light bulbs for sun lamps I could do two things at once.

No sets of 30 followed by one super slow set of 10. When I do 150 its 30 x 5.

30 is still pretty good. I don't think I could do 30 in a row.

good stuff

I don't know what I could do for just a single set. I used to do 50 x 5 a couple times a week. That was before my last shoulder job. I may have to try a single set soon just for fun.

A guy I train with does 50 every commerical break a couple days a week while watching TV. Sometimes he does over 10 sets. Other days he does Burpees but I don't his numbers on those. Not a bad way to get in a work out.

One of the other guys at the gym has been doing P90x for a month or two. Funny part is although he looks great, he's getting weaker and is starting to get pushed around by about everybody.

Im normally on the mats like 3 hours a week on a normal week, sometimes up to 6 if I'm feeling saucy and go to judo -- what do you normally get to do?

I'm down to about 4 on a good week, sometimes I sneak in 6 or so but not often enough
