Media A-level athlete Shaquille Rashaun "Shaq" O'Neal ADMITS that UFC fighters are best athletes in world

Usually famous people who are hyping UFC are owners of WME-IMG or Zuffa, or what ever the name is nowadays.

Fighters used to be popular quests on talk shows hosted by Conan O'Brian, why? Zuffa hyped/payed them to be quests, and now on Conan is part owner of WME-IMG so he tries to hype as much as he can the product he now owns. I think Shaq must be one of the owners too.

They are just hyping their own product now.

In the video clip, Shaq was giving credit to the talent level that UFC fighters have.
He's trained MMA for a few years and recently recorded a segment where he rolled with Forrest Griffin and was
surprised that he offered no threat on the mats for a retired UFC fighter. In that segment, UFC level athletes earned his respect.

That being said, MMA athletes are not on par with athletes in other sports, especially not pro football, track and field, wrestling,
and boxing.

These are sports that you cannot just wake up as an adult and decide you want to compete at a pro level.
There are several pro MMA fighters who rolled off of the couch in their 20s, started training and are competing at a very high level.

MMA requires A-Level athletic skills, but I don't believe the current UFC fighters are necessarily the best athletes at baseline. Most of them can't fight at a high level for the duration of the scheduled bout.

MMA it's also not pushed to the level of some other sports

If MMA was handled as an important sport, we will probably see much higher level, both technical and athletical
