A deeper look into the UFC Hall of Fame: Is it legit in your opinion?

Baseball was around like 30+ years before ever having a HOF... and only took the best of the time... Ruth , Cobb , etc. Let that sink in.
Sorry Kowboy, but that is not true. At least not anymore. Look at the stats of some of people that make it in there, and some of the greats did not make it because they played during an era when some journalists have argued that 90% of players were on PEDs.

Americans are so weird about this hall of fame thing. It feels like no one deserves to be in them. Whatever the sport is. Chill out!

It's missing quite a few guys and I don't think Serra should be in there.

I also don't understand the modern and pioneer wing thing. So stupid and makes no difference. They were all great fighters. Why do we have to separate them?

yeah it’s a little weird when anderson is in the “pioneer” wing, but he was champ until 2013—well after many of the “modern” fighters lost their belts.

also, i know the pioneer section is based around when they debuted, but urijah faber is actually kind of a pioneer for manlets.

Rashad Evans, Donald Cerrone, Uriah Faber, Bisping and Matt Serra are very doubtful. The Tapout dude of course shouldn't be there but at least he seems to be in some different hall

Lol. No. It obviously can’t be legit if people are left off due to personal issues with the tomato can in charge of it.

It's okay. Not perfect - but a HoF will always be an arbitrary mix of the most elite champs, famous names, guys who aren't great but happened to be part of a significant phase, and those who put in their time or service as long term league veterans or company shills.

I don't get why fans are upset over HoF decisions but at the same time dismiss the entire concept.
Let it just be around as a silly insignificant curiosity. It's fun for those who get in - even when it's not totally fair.

It's like the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame - it's bullshit so I don't get why people are so pissed Soundgarden ain't in it

It's just basically people that are friends with Dana and were good fighters.

Dana probably uses it as a negotiating tool.

You want 20k per fight ya bum. I will give you 10k and let you go in my hall of fame.

What an original thread. This isn’t done every week or anything… maybe we should start an “Is the UFC is dying” poll.

To me the HoF is pretty legit, it's not the best, but the guys in have more reason than people want to admit. Cerrone is a little off, but he is a legend for most fights under Zuffa and has a bunch of other close records to the top. Still they need to add guys like GSP and Hendo, but it's not as bad as people are saying.

Quite literally the least legit HOF I’ve ever heard of.

Shad - won TUF at HW. Won LHW Title, with no successful defences. It’s just my opinion, but that’s not a resume even close to being HOF worthy.

In The Rock and Roll HOF (been there 3 times in Cleveland, Ohio).

Musicians become eligible for induction into the hall of fame 25 years after the release of their first recording. The foundation's nominating committee, made up of rock historians, selects nominees each year in the performer category, who are then voted upon by an international body of some 500 rock experts. Those nominees with the highest vote total (and more than 50 percent of the total vote) are inducted, five to seven performers being chosen each year. There is often tension between commercial success and reverence by critics in the selection process. Moreover, the committee has been criticized by some for its alleged music industry establishment bias.

It’s a whole big deal, and you can be nominated many times until you get in. Or maybe you never get in.

Apply just the length of when they had their first UFC fight. GSP wouldn’t be eligible until 2029. Anderson Silva.. 2031.

As far as I can tell there’s no set criteria at all for the UFC HOF.

It’s probably cool for the inductees. But most of them shouldn’t be in it, imo.

Nothing personal, just my opinion.
