9 Year Old Girl Tossed by Bison

The Bison was closer to the child than they were.

And whose fault is that.....

Fuck I don't even let my kids charge at or approach geese and as vicious as those fuckers are they're at least in a similar weight class to the kid.

Weight classes matter people. Just because a large animal is a herbivore doesn't mean it can't or won't kill you without hesitation.

Unbelievable that people would be stupid enough to get that close to a bison. I've been around them in Theodore Roosevelt national Park and thought it was a given you don't get anywhere near them. They're unbelievably big and powerful

You work in a zoo. This is the wild and also a place for tourists. It needs to be put down, rabid or not. Otherwise people will stop going if they are just going to get attacked unprovoked
Unprovoked? Did you watch the video? They were trying to pet the fucking thing.

We have the story here of people getting that close to lions and getting torn up, so this is no shock.

Here it was the African Lion Safari game park just outside Toronto. You can drive your own car thru the park but are told in the lions enclosure to keep the doors locked and windows up. That or you can ride the big guide bus they have circle the park. One couple decides the windows of the car are blocking their good shots. They put down the window and are marveling at the clear shots and how close the lions are. As one approaches they keep taking pictures feeling lucky about how close it is getting. Hey, its walking right at them but looks nonchalant. That is until it suddenly jumps and before they can react and get the window up its torso is in the car.

It tears them both up before pulling out of the car. Of course they sue the park. And win. And now no one can drive their cars in the park anymore. Everyone has to take the guided buses.

That's really too bad. Dumb and / or ignorant people always ruin it for everyone else.

I got charged by a Gemsbok once in White Sands National Monument/Missile Range
I had an M4, but a Blank Fire Adaptor on at the time, so yes, i ran like a straight punk and jumped up on a MRAP

This is a Gemsbok, for reference, nobody told me they were introduced from Africa as a conservation effort

This is a wild fucking animal why are people getting this close to them?

Jesus Christ. I know hunters who won't get closer than like 50 feet to even thing like big white tail deer and shit.

If you drive thru the areas of Banff, Lake Louise to Jasper National Park in Alberta you will see all sorts of animals road side.

Giant elk like this are common. Black bears, mountain goats, the odd Moose and Grizzly bear too.

The last time i drove thru this area a large herd of giant elk were roadside feeding on the longer grasses.

Of course cars all stop and pull over and grab pictures when they see them but was is shocking is how many people not just get out of their cars but move away from the safety of their cars and get very close grabbing pictures. I hate to stereotype but the Asians are the worst.

I, with my daughters were looking at about 15 people walking down in the grass near the elk and snapping pictures while trying to get themselves into the picture and pose. That means turning their backs on the animals.

WIth one big guy, like in the picture near a large RV, a group of people had all lined their backs up to the RV with the elk just feet in front of them so basically if charged they could not retreat. They had a big wall (RV side) behind them.

I told my daughters we may see someone die today in one of those 'when animals attack' video's. It would just take one to get a little freaked out at the snapping pictures or a randy male thinking he was establishing territory.

Commissioner I knew from my old job saw a woman walking TOWARDS a cow moose that had a calf... holding her 4 year old in one hand and a camera in the other.....

Other than a sow bear or a female wolf with a cub/pups there isn't really a worse north American animal to do that with....

I love how elk seem to realize they're big as fuck and people won't go near them with a car.

Crazy story.

It's nuts how in a few hundred years, people went from hypervigilant out of fear of being trounced by wild animals to utterly complacent to the point that they think nothing will happen because nothing has previously happened (only because they've never encountered said animals before).

A male bison can weigh up to 3,000 pounds. That is 1.5 tons. The average male horse weighs 1,300 pounds. A Spanish fighting bull weighs in at 1,100 pounds. Neither humans or a Spanish bull are a match for an American bison. People should not get out of their cars and fuck with these animals at national parks.
I don't understand the thought process of these people
