If you drive thru the areas of Banff, Lake Louise to Jasper National Park in Alberta you will see all sorts of animals road side.
Giant elk like this are common. Black bears, mountain goats, the odd Moose and Grizzly bear too.
The last time i drove thru this area a large herd of giant elk were roadside feeding on the longer grasses.
Of course cars all stop and pull over and grab pictures when they see them but was is shocking is how many people not just get out of their cars but move away from the safety of their cars and get very close grabbing pictures. I hate to stereotype but the Asians are the worst.
I, with my daughters were looking at about 15 people walking down in the grass near the elk and snapping pictures while trying to get themselves into the picture and pose. That means turning their backs on the animals.
WIth one big guy, like in the picture near a large RV, a group of people had all lined their backs up to the RV with the elk just feet in front of them so basically if charged they could not retreat. They had a big wall (RV side) behind them.
I told my daughters we may see someone die today in one of those 'when animals attack' video's. It would just take one to get a little freaked out at the snapping pictures or a randy male thinking he was establishing territory.
