8K physical media

In parts of Africa, rumor has it, that they have 16k technology already. Just no where too plug it in.

8k movies will just come on 1TB microSD cards. the cheapest 1TF microSD card currently is $32 so I assume within 2 yrs it will be under $10.

Even on a 75" TV you'd have to be very close to it to notice the difference over 4k.

Where can you find a 1 TB microSD for $32 now?
 
This reminds me of CD Players "oversampling rates" when they first came out. I think we stopped at 16x. If 4k isn't the end, it will surely be 8k. Beyond that we'll probably be viewing our Media on something or in some way we can't even imagine right now.
 
I don't know, but I hope we can get Baraka and Samsara in their full resolution, justifying their crazy decision to shoot it like they did.
 
Maybe would need longer loading time than current bluray discs.

Why are you beating a dead horse bro. Ita fine if all u wanted was 1080p but 4K is the new standard now. Its not somrthing only rich people have. Walmart sells Samsung 4k tvs for a few hundred bucks.

Aren't you talking about the maximum storage capacity of those though which is independent of the movie? I think for the same length movie with the same bit rate, the 4k should be 4x's greater... maybe more when you take into account the higher bit depth.
 
What the hell is even the point in 8K? Can the human eye even distinguish 4K from 8K? I can’t distinguish 1080p from 4K.
