80s vs. 90s

For me it's the 80's BUT you also really have to take into account for when a person was born. Being born in 74 the 80's were best for me; simpler time and very enjoyable . Come the 90's I am about to graduate and become an adult. Plus I HATED the music in the 90's! Well most of it at least especially when gangster rap came onto the scene and I was no longer hearing the hairbands play on the radio.

I was born in '82, but came of age in the 90's.

I was able to enjoy all the classic 80's toys and just be a kid, helicopter parents weren't even a thing back then. I remember REAL replica guns, the original Transformers, Ninja Turtles, and small G.I. Joe figures.

But, I was also able to enjoy the anonymous Internet of the early-to-mid 90's, making out with girls, driving around listening to "alternative" music and doing a lot of acid.

So, 90's.

The 80's by far. High school kids could get together and drink. If the cops showed up they would just make them pour it out and go home.

The 90's were iffy. If you were lucky the cops would let you get away with it. Others not so lucky.

These days that happens and you're a felon who will have a hard time getting a job and being a productive member of society for the rest of your life.

I was born in 79, so my wheelhouse is the whole of the90's. The 80's were just goofy, but that is endearing. Nothing really made sense, and that's kind of cool. They weren't self aware yet. The 90's were more self aware, and the media was starting to begin the takeover that leads to fail culture today, but the youth still had a soul of its own, and decided more on its own what they/we liked more than it was 100% chosen for us.. They were very different, those two decades. Very, very different tones. The 80's were a freewheeling goofy decade with more crappy music and little direction, the 90's were a little more self aware, thoughtful, with better music and the direction starting towards tech. The 90's were like a mix of the 60s, 70s, and 00s.. The 90's wee oddly very separated from the 80s. In 1995, 1985 might as well have been 30 years ago, as far as the youth was concerned. I miss the decades having distinct spirit and attitude. Now it's all media and phone BS. So sad.

The Cops did start to become bigger dicks in the 90's, but the younger people still did their thing anyway. There were still big parties and keggers.. It wasn't a couple bi-sluts and dudes watching that made a party lol.. I mean, that stuff happened in the 90's too, but t was more of a side effect of the party, and not the party itself.

I grew up in the 90s and I love them to death, but if there was a decade I wish I could grow up in, it would be the 80s. Great music on both videos though. Good memories.

I was born in 87 so I only experienced the 90's. It was a fun decade but I really wish I could've grown up in the 80's. I hate 90's music (except for a few bands). Hair bands, early thrash, and synth pop kick the shit out of grunge and nu metal.

Born in 82 but shared a room with my brother who was 8 years older than me so i feel like i experienced both. I feel like the 80s was a much more fun and carefree time but maybe that's just because i was young.

The 90's felt almost anti fun to me. It was all angst and blah.

The 80's seem sort of corny when you look back but it was all about having a good time. Everything was fun and entertaining.

Choke yourself numbnuts.

all know the only decade that can half way compare to my 80's is the 60's. Just go watch Top Gun then think about how uncouth of a question you've asked your sherbros.

80's. The 90's started going downhill around '97 (but it still felt like the 90's then), but '98 and '99 started the downhill slope of music and pop culture with nu metal, southern rap, boy bands, and teen girl acts like Britney Spears and the like. You also had Titanic, Armageddon, American Godzilla, Antz, The Phantom Menace, The Wild Wild West, The Haunting, and The World is Not Enough, and other very bland blockbusters that started to take off in the post Independence Day world. Internet culture also started to take off in those two years, but it was just a mess and caused a huge market crash.
Also consider that the first 2-3 years in any new decade feels like the previous one and you have 2000 and 2001 having a lot of crap in those years as well (even though some of my favorite movies came out in that time span), whereas 1990-1992 were still very fun.
The 80's didn't have any down years like those two from the 90's.

I was a child in the 80s and a teen on the 90s I'm going with the 90s smoking weed, listening to west coast gangster rap, drinking cheap cask wine and fingering girls

Born in '71 . . . the 80's were a blast. The 90's were ok, but that's when I had to actually grow up, graduate college and start supporting my family. :)

Born in 73, 80's all the way.

Born in '74. I chose the 90s because of raves. Definitely the best time of my life.

I'm with the community curmudgeon.
