we have a government in Canada that is holding the population hostage. They have no intention of ending this tariff war, they are using it to manufacture a crisis, to keep parliament prorogued and give themselves emergency powers to print billions of dollars and tighten their hold to power. Canadians would rather be taken as another state than live in an ever increasing communist dictatorship. The limp wristed thing to do is to blindly support the Canadian government in its quest to control it's own people. Canadians have no choice, even if we all wanted to give up and join the US we won't be allowed, we have wanted an election for over a year now and the government has been doing everything possible to remain in power. Right now parliament it shut down and the NDP says it will back the liberal government instead of bringing an election. Liberals have stacked the senate so that even if they lose power they will vote down everything anyway. There is nothing that can be done in the short term, it will take years just to balance the senate by which time the country could be a lost cause, there isn't enough time to bail the water out of the ship before it sinks, best to get on a lifeboat before it's too late.

If the conservatives do get voted in, I think they will be handcuffed and unable to do really anything truly effective in the short term. If they can somehow stay in power as long as Trudeau has maybe they can turn around, but I think if the Conservatives get in and things get worse because we are still on the downward trajectory the liberals started they will be blamed and the Liberals will get right back in.

I'm not convinced the conservatives are going to get elected, right now they are destroying in the polls. If the liberals succeed in another manufactured crisis and the have a magic solution for our economic struggles... UBI they will run on that and get re elected.
