- I'm already negotiating for my next fight, but it's difficult. A lot of people haven't accepted it (fighting with me), it's been a more than complicated negotiation. I watch the fights and when there's someone from my division fighting, I'm dying to be called out, but then nobody challenges me. Let's see when this next fight will be.

- I am negotiating this fight, we're seeing a fight for April. We're just now closing the opponent, to see who it will be. It could be (Khamzat) Chimaev, who was one of the few guys who accepted and there we are in a negotiation. We will see. It could be against him this next fight.

- For me to have another opportunity for the belt, I think I need expressive victories. I think one or two. I think the next challenger for the belt will be Leon Edwards, so I think a win over Chimaev and Colby (Covington) puts me back there for the belt, but it's really hard to control that. It depends a lot on the moment, how you won, the response from the fans. It depends on a lot, so it's hard to talk.

This will be a great fight.

I'm thinking Khamzat is too big and strong, but Burns is pretty good so wouldn't count him out entirely.

63/37 Khamzat

This would be my most looked forward to fight for Chimaev; we get to see his striking and grappling put the the test against an elite.

Ideally he gets one more lower half top 10 guy first, but man this fight would be an absolute banger.

Most dangerous fight for Khamzat in the entire division IMO. Moreso than Usman... again, IMO. Khamzat is definitely looking to conquer WW if he's signing against / calling out the single most dangerous style matchup in the division already.

I love the Burns matchup but would've preferred Magny or Colby. Magny because it would be so easy for Khamzat and people would see that Magny doesn't belong in the ring with him (no disrespect to Neil, I like him and respect that he'll fight anybody. He's had a good career.....top ten guy). I'd like to see Colby since he's a wrestler and I think it would show how high Khamzat's level of wrestling is. Burns is his hardest matchup before Usman. He wins against Burns and they Chimaev fights for the title later in the year. It's a win-win as far as i'm concerned.

Right now there's so much depth in the division and nobody wants to fight anybody else because they don't want to get knocked down the line for the title.

But fuck that. They gotta fight. And Khamzat is the guy who will fight any of them (or all of them) whenever wherever.

Respect to Burns if he takes the fight. I'll feel a little bad watching Khamzat wreck him.

Yea I guess. Burns is such a tough out for most fighters, and many won't want to risk it on their way up. Dunno if Chimaev gets Burns his rematch with Usman, but a win would get him some more notoriety I suppose. It would make Chimaev's run something truly special.

In before everyone claims Khamzat is ducking Neil Magny.
I mean, only fools would in this case. It's very clear Gilbert has kind of been the non champion boogey man of the division. He's running through everybody who isn't the champion, hell he even stung the very tough Usman pretty good in their fight. And is only out ranked by Covington. Bout as tough a non title fight as you could hope to find.

Usman unfortunately might magically retire when Khamzat get the titleshot

I love this fight for both guys. Would pay for a ppv just for this fight

Good post but I do think Colby is the better benchmark here for him. Just because I think we can all imagine burns getting ragdolled or knocked out. With Colby, we’ve seen him against usman 2x. A dominant win against him I think shows a different level. Burns is a tough test of course and could win, but I think there are scenarios where khamzat wins easily and we still have questions because of the style matchup.

(I do get that Colby doesn’t present the ground threat that burns does and thus will still have questions, although I don’t think usman is a huge sub threat).
