Kevin Holland on fighter pay: Fight more or get a better manager

They should throw him strikers for now and if he gets momentum we can see if the wrestling improved. Right now any good grappler will just take him down with ease.

Obviously, fighters should be paid more as a whole, but it's still not poverty wages like so many pretend it is. Holland fights often, makes the most of sponsors, and probably lives a lot more humbly than some of the fighters who complain about being broke

I heard Cannonier say he has no sponsors lol, and he is complaining about pay.... unbelievable

He's right though. The fighters that people come to watch get paid a decent salary and can afford to fight once or twice a year. You can't expect to get paid much if you're unknown to most fans and should try to fight as much as possible. If you put on a good performance and get your name out there then your manager can negotiate a better contract. If they don't like the way UFC policy on sponsors then they can go to another organization.

Because he lost to Vettori and Brunson? He needs to improve his wrestling, but it's not like any top 30 wrestler can just easily take him down

No sponsors and has two houses lol. He's in no position to complain about money, it's 100% on him.

Most of the problems is probably due to money management and spending habits. Doesn't really matter how much money you make, if you have those issues it will always be the same problem. That's how people that end up making hundreds of millions throughout their career end up broke. Same with lotto winners, people don't know how to handle the money properly.

A lot of fighters make more than most working class families combined. So there really shouldn't be a money issue if the money is being handled properly.

I don’t understand why most of the fighters complaining just don’t get a day job and train at night.

Cerrone said the same thing when the Reebok deal first came in. Keep fighting and fighting and the base pay goes up.

He’s still going to cut you, boot licker. Maybe you’ll get a cherry picked opponent for a statement like this, but it won’t keep you employed much longer than that.

This. Fighter and pro athlete mentality tends to be "Oooooooh...I just made $200k in 1 night! Time to go buy a house and a new car and live like a rock star!"

He’s the kind of fighter Dana likes, takes short notice match ups, stands and bangs, nasty finishes, no lnp. He could run off four or five losses in a row before getting cut or being forced to drop a weight class.
