Khabib fans love to constantly post the shortened gif of this knockdown and not give due credit to the beautiful recovery.

Look how McGregor beautifully evades a potential fight ending knee and answers back with one of his own (connecting clean). Mind you, this is after eating a flush overhand right (McGregor's first time being knocked down). The fact that his awareness is seemingly unfazed and maintained following this blow was incredible.

This little sequence proves that although the fight appeared lopsided, flurries like this could very well have put an end to EITHER gentleman's night. Who's to say McGregor's flush knee wouldn't put Khabib's lights out in a rematch? As we all know, with McGregor, all it takes is one.

No rematch, never will be.. Sherdog will fantasize the idea until they finally mature in two or three decades later.

Fair point. Conor didn't die. It only looked like he was dying in there.

Jokes aside - he's an aware fighter, yes. But I can't praise him for avoiding a blow after being dropped by a blow. If he didn't do that he might be KO'd instead of submitted so good for him but it's nothing to praise, per se.

If you look passed the Conor lovin' in this thread..

It is actually a good recovery from an overhand. I never noticed it before

Are we gonna make a thread for every coulda, shoulda, woulda? When it came down to it, Conor had close to 4 full rounds to whoop Khabibs ass and do everything he promised he was going to do. He failed. He blatantly cheated over 15 times, got knocked down, got taken down, got slapped, got Khabibs balls on his forehead, got GnP'd and quit after another blatant fence-grab was unsuccesful. Khabib stood right in front of him and Conor couldn't wobble the guy. I'm not even gonna sit here and act like Conor is not a talented fighter. He 100% is and imo has a chance against most LW's, but he will always lose to Khabib. Khabib was coughing the entire fight and during his entrance, dude showed up sick and fucked Conor up. For someone talking all of that shit and go "glass-jaw, lets rassle", he sure as fuck got embarrassed out there.

And yes, Conor has a good chin and recovered well, but its not like Khabib puts people out with one shot as it is. Still, credit where credit is due.

Lol yup, reminds me of when Jones hurt Gus in the first fight. He wasnt as hurt as people made him out to be. Gus blocked every strike after the spinning back elbow and even hit a trip on Jon.

Weidman took a shot from Gastelum that almost made his head spin around, and then won the fight.. Weidman > Conor
Every fighter has recovered from a big shot at some point in their career. All it means is you got hit with a big shot..
I could give 100 examples of fighters recovering just as fast from more devastating blows. This thread is dog shit sorry..

The version that beat Alvarez would give Khabib fits and maybe beat him. That version had no chance, Ive never seen Conor looks so out of it in a fight before. That walkout and faceoff was completely telling of his mentality for the fight.

You ever thought that the “version” of McGregor was only that good because he was in there with Eddie Alvarez who is garbage compared to Khabib?

@Steve Fox

if your gonna say anything about after the fight then don't leave out before ...

cause if we go that route Conor ruined it well before it happened..

nothing but dispicable acts building up to fight and during the fight ...

the end result "was only buisness"
