4 Year Liberal Arts Colleges Struggling

Why spend 4 years doing an English Literature when you could've spent that same time reading what interests and honing your skills in creative writing and self pubbing (like I did) while also earning lots of money from learning a trade?
To me, there's a massive difference between learning something on your own, and having a teacher help you. The internet is great for most things, but I feel like the more nuanced stuff would be better to hash out with a teacher. But everyone learns differently.

They were super saturated for a long while. Kids realizing that a liberal arts degree from a low tier institution isn't worth the cost. Theres other avenues, way better options in the hard sciences and trades. They are also pretty good at monetizing digital commerce.

It also doesn't mean the end of Liberal Art colleges; as there will always be a green hair segment of post secondary students without the skills / charm / or ability to apply themselves to a real degree or better standard of institution so they will just roll their chins in to the Evergreen colleges. It's just that the saturation of those schools are receding to better levels.

You know society is falling when the idea of schools closing gives half the population a hard on
Yeah it's pretty sad and pathetic lol. They have nothing better to do than look for any liberal organization closing and have to verbally jerk off to it. I don't know anyone that would do something like that, so it's legit mental derangement and obsessions with "owning" the left.

I always hated how often my project managers would come from completely unrelated fields.
Brah all college really is - showing you got the ability to learn . As 90% rhe time you just gotta be re trained anyway.

Not at all, that's the problem. The political indoctrination has been going for a VERY long time.
Sure. The reality is when schools close it’s a bad sign of the times. Prosperous times lead to more schools being opened. So cheerleading the closing of schools, is pretty dumb if you think about without emotion for a second. But I know you won’t and I expect a long winded response about your victimhood.

I recently watched a video about this topic and you touched upon the major point, and that's declining birth rate.

Also there's a glut of colleges in the US. Usually the American economy is about 10 times of Canada, and that ratio applies to a lot of other things. Yet I think there are 30 times more colleges in USA than in Canada

Good video

College is expensive.

With that said, I live in a college town. The population is going up for business and engineering departments, but shrinking in departments like sociology.

Also, trade schools are increasing enrollment. Plus, you hear the word "Apprenticeships" in the halls of my high school now.

Plus, there's always the military

I dont know what the fuck you are talking about with this victimhood shit?

The truth is, as with any public company, if you dont provide a good service that the customer actually desire, at a reasonable price point, then you shut down.

If your university specialises in bullshit, extremely expensive degrees that achieve nothing but leaving your students in massive debt, then you're living on borrowed time.

As always, the market provides excellent quality control.

Sure but that really has nothing to do with what I’m talking about does it?

Yes, it absolutely does. They are closing down because they are a garbage product that there is shrinking demand for, not because of a lack of "prosperous times".

Still not what I’m talking about , please go reread my first statement. That you absolutely had to respond to

there's alot more low cost, purely online programs available now. surprisingly, the quality is about the same as legacy educational institutions. There's still a place for traditional schools though (i.e. if you want to be a doctor / engineer). Overall, I'm happy colleges are closing, plus we need more tradesmen
