International 248 people, 66 children Palestinian dead after "Apartheid state" Israel launches airstrikes in Gaza

Kind of feels like this conflict is entering the endgame. Putting aside the issues of morality, history, religion, and everything else that makes this a powder-keg issue, the reality on the ground has drastically changed since the last flare up of violence between these two sides.

Israel no longer has an immediate existential threat on its borders. Syria has been destroyed by civil war. The Egyptians overthrew Mubarak, the military overthrew Morsi, and irrespective of the peace treaty, Egypt cannot afford a conflict when its own internal situation is unstable. Beirut literally blew up due to Lebanese corruption and incompetence. Hell, the Lebanese were actually asking Macron to come back and reestablish colonial rule. Hezbollah, whose finances have been decimated by its participation in the Syrian Civil War, is not in about to risk its support, power and position within the Lebanese political/social/economic system with a war with Israel, which most Lebanese would be against. The Gulf Countries are more focused on diversifying their economies, and countering Iranian and Turkish influence in the region. In that region, Israel is actually the country best suited to help them accomplish those goals; UAE and Bahrain normalized relations with Israel and the Saudis have had a low-key on the dl relationship with the Israelis for a while now. Jordan was never a threat. The Iranians do not share a land border with Israel, its proxy forces in Syria by themselves are no threat. It's proxies in Iraq are too far. The only meaningful threat they have to the Israelis is their nuclear program, which will either be dealt with diplomatically or militarily.

Without an existential threat to its existence and survival, the Israelis have no reason to negotiate or make a peace deal with the Palestinians. The Israelis will continue to build settlements in the West Bank unabated.

Agreed but where do Gazans go? Logically Israel wants to expel them into Egypt. Egypt has given more Gazans passports or residency in recent years but it will be hard to get Egypt to accept nearly 2 million of them. And forcing Gazans into Egypt starts a war with Egypt. However Israel wont want to start war with Egypt so best route is diplomatic.

I think a conflict with Lebanon, Iran and Syria are inevitable along with Gaza. Jordan will complain but is stable. It seems the Israeli response will be to strike Iran and Lebanon. Syria is in shambles though

A couple of things. Israel has a right to defend themselves. But this doesn’t seem like defending yourself. Israel has the backing of many countries. They don’t need to be doing this. Another thing is, how are we supposed to know the full story all the way over here.

regardless, it’s a messed up situation.

They are being inundated with rocket fire on their metropolitan, civilian areas following their refusal to capitulate to an illegal ultimatum.

It's incomprehensible to me that anyone would fail to wrap their head around the incredibly basic, indisputable fact they are defending themselves. The continuing West Bank expansions are related, but a separate matter to resolving this very simple question.

Both sides are mental, the Hamas guy asking for people to kill jews cutting their jugular, the other side kicking families out of land to give back to people that are dead.

I blame the brits, they should have kept the land

Why do they have to go to Egypt?

If, hypothetically, the GCC countries are successful in diversifying their economies and establishing stable tech/manufacturing/service industries,

AND

actually pay salaries comparable to the western world with civil rights and don't treat foreign workers as indentured servants and slaves (pie in the sky stuff, I know), there would be a huge influx of workers into the Gulf region. Not just from the Palestinian Territories, but all over the world.

Bahrain, in particular, which is a Sunni ruled state with a Shia majority population would probably be especially keen on diluting their Shia population with other Sunni Arabs.

If the Israelis are not satisfied with the results of a Biden-Iran deal, then you're probably right, they will strike Iran. The difference is that the IAF will not be flying out of Israel; they will probably be given access to facilities in UAE and Bahrain by their new gulf buddies from which to stage attacks on Iranian soil. IAF and UAEAF pilots have already been drilling and training together. The most recent, publicly known drill was back on April 21 of this year. From those staging areas, the Israelis can mount a sustained, prolonged, aerial campaign to degrade Iranian capabilities. The Israelis also have assets in Azerbaijan, but since Azerbaijan shares a land border with Iran and would be vulnerable to an Iranian counterattack, it's unlikely that they will use that area for "visibile" kinetic attacks.

Iran's ability to respond is actually quite limited. Their offensive capacity is essentially their ballistic missiles and their proxies. Structurally, the overwhelming majority of Iran's military forces are organized and positioned to resist invasion, not to be the aggressor. So if the Israelis do strike Iran, it won't be a war so much as the Iranians getting to eat some of the same shit the Syrians have been choking on since 1967.

What's disgusting about it? He doesn't agree with you that Palestine should massacre Israel?
What a absurd comment. As if Palestinians are massacring Israelis. Israel is the goliath in this fight, who is instigating and oppressing the Palestinians, who are just respoding.

If you keep poking a wounded animal in a cage, it is hardly surprising when it strikes out. And knowing what a hack you are, you are bound to respond that I am calling the Palestinians 'animals' when in fact I am using a metaphor that I would use for any other conflict.

Painting the Israelis as victims is like saying the CCP or ISIS are the victims. Israel and its cheerleaders have done a dam good job of painting the aggressor and bully as the victim and the victim as the bully.

Yang is a virute signalling coward who is trying to curry favor with the Jewish lobby and Jewish voters. He is just like most all Dems and all of the GOP.

Weren't a bunch of missiles fired at Israel first?
The Palestinian missiles are literally tin cans with some fins on them stuffed with fertiliser.

Your buy more intimidating fireworks in most western countries

i find the palestine fireworks arguments fascinating.

this is why i come to this subforum

That doesn't change the fact they are firing and attacking. I saw some video of those rockets and they are doing damage and killing people as well. If someone started punching you, it doesn't change the fact that they are attacking you even if you think the punches are weak.

And it's hardly surprising when they are met with extreme force in response. There are winners and losers all around the world. Powerful and weak. If Palestine wants to keep fucking around with their superiors, watch what happens. I'm certainly not gonna lose any sleep over it, as their conflict is a little more complicated than "Big guys bad, little guys good".

lmao that's like justifying how the United States has continually raped the earth out of spite because of those who fight back; 10/10 mental gymnastics, you should try out for the Darwin Olympics

In the era of social media where we can see everything, this got me wondering if the moderators will allow members to post graphic pictures if Ariel Sharon Lite (Netanyahu) decides to send waves of F16s filled with white photosphorus to “flatten” an already ruined Gaza again, Merkava tanks to shell Pally rock throwers and bulldozing DIY homes. We can see who condones genocide.
