so do the oilers go with stanley pickard or shit-the-bed skinner in net on saturday? if they start stewie you know they're gonna have to score 5 or 6 goals just to stay in it.

the more the merrier. i live like 2 hours away from atlanta so i could finally have a team to root for
Fack, I live in northern Ontario and we are all fanatics and don’t have a team within 4hrs, and I am close to a team as far as Canada goes. You’re getting greedy.

Well they'll have a much better chance of succeeding this time being in the northern suburbs.
Do you remember the Atlanta Knights? They were doing 10k for home games in The Omni during the 1994 NHL lockout. I bet that's why they got the Thrashers.

I remember the Atlanta Knights. Briefly lived in Athens. Tampa’s farm team right? Manon Reaume!

Remember the pregame once was UGA vs Georgia Tech. The back-up goalie for one of the teams had to be helped across the ice to the bench at the beginning of the game cause he couldn’t skate lol. I coulda made that team!

I'm about 25 miles north of Atlanta. CFB is king followed by the NFL.
The only pro team that has a real following in the south are the Braves and that's only because of TBS and the run they went on in the 90s.
Lots of hockey fans in Tampa but they're all yankees from NYC/Boston/Toronto/etc. The next division realignment will be interesting.

A lot of colleges here have AAU club hockey. UGA/GT/UF/South Carolina play round robin tournaments in Savannah every year.

a couple days ago the atlanta group got approved for a $3 billion arena and entertainment district. seems like things are moving along pretty nicely

Yeah and they already own all the land.
I was hoping it would be close to the Braves and the Battery (black dot) but I guess there's not enough room. Orange dot is where the Falcons/Hawks play and where the Thrashers (and Flames before) played.

hopefully having the arena in alpharetta will make it less hectic getting in and out of the place. i seem to remember as a little kid that it used to be a pain in the ass to go to turner field

Yeah Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and then Turner Field were almost outside the perimeter in Clayton County. Whereas I can drive to Truist without even getting on the interstate.

so the abbotsford canucks played florida's farm team in game 1 of the calder cup finals. they were down 3-1 in the 2'nd period and came back and tied the game and sent it to overtime, even after silovs had to stop three shorthanded breakaways.

canucks killed 2 penalties in overtime and almost scored on their own shorthanded breakaway. danica klimovich hits post and almost wins it for abby.

it goes to 2nd overtime and then this happened:

canucks win the faceoff clean in their own zone and it goes straight into their own net! but the refs waived it off because silovs had his back turned and was adjusting his mask when they dropped the puck. he had no idea they were dropping the puck.

it would have been the worst way to end game 1 and no doubt it would have made the blooper lists. but both goalies have to be ready before the linesmen can whistle for the faceoff procedure to commence and the linesman fucked up so they reversed their own call of goal.

but play continues and then charlotte dumps the puck over the glass for a penalty and then this shit happened:

fuck yeah!
