2026 Motorsports Thread

I don't have any car brand allegiance. Which one likes to cheat or bend the rules of their cars, I respect those efforts.

I did look at the track and anticipate things looking drastically different. I would imagine you have some drivers who can drive this well and some who can't. Are there any drivers who are good at both?

I'm gonna cop out and say everybody has gotten better at road course racing and yes there are a few who are good at both. Hamlin, Larson, Elliott, Byron, Briscoe, Blaney just to name a few but SVG and Zilisch are still head and shoulders above on road courses.

Any race at CODA is bound to be entertaining. I'd like to know the race setup for these cars at such a demanding track.
Maybe NASCAR should have two totally different cars for ovals vs road courses. Different frames, different suspension, different aero, etc.
They have the money and tech, might be worth it. I see more road courses in the future, even diehard fans get tired of cars turning left
all day long waiting for the final laps where the real excitement and strategy occurs.

The sad part is that all forms of motor racing are about to be gutted due to the 'sustainability' curse.
F1, according to veteran and present day drivers, is absolutely abysmal now with the advent of EV tech.
NASCAR is reportedly not far behind. After switching to corn oil or something for fuel, it is preparing to go
full EV soon.

And so is heralded the death of true motor sports forever.

Ya, F1 this year completely redid their power units. I beleive something like 50% of your power has to come from the battery. There are jokes (but it might end up being a real thing) that drivers will actually ahve to break on the straighaways in order to charge more battery or risk running to low to pass or defend in corners.
Might as well just put a bunch of electrical engineers in these cars and race in a sim at some point.

The only good thing with F1 that makes it exciting is it sort of re-leveled the playing field this year. The teams basically got every bit of tech and speed out of the current setup. There weren't going to be a lot of surprises or changes in 2026 compared to 2025. The same teams would have dominated. At least now we might get some chaos at the beginning of year, or potentially have a year where everyone has a bit of a chance to podium.
