2025 continues to wreak havoc on Undefeated Fighters

Of these fighters I picked Bashi, Nurmagomedov and Shara as the favourites on their night who I believed the most would lose. And well Suarez was the underdog I thought she was the most likely on her night to upset, that one I got wrong

Now we need a chart with the undefeated ones left standing.
I love when they do the “hit list” on sherdog listing all the undefeated ufc fighters with their record and ufc records. I wish they would do it every year.

Me too, man.

A lot is going to be down to matchmaking, of course.

I think the matchmaking has been particularly challenging at the start of 2025. Rinya, Carpenter, Talbott and Steele all got very experienced opponents, but I don't think any of the fights were 'unfair'.

Austin Bashi got the Angel of Death for undefeated fighters in CRod, and Gadzhiyasulov disproved MMAth once again by losing to the guy who lost twice to the guy he just beat lol

Any of these guys could be given equally tough/rough follow up fights when some of them probably need a slight step down after that. It depends how hard the UFC is gonna challenge them. They're all good enough to win fights in the UFC, it's just who they're asked to beat now.
Good old CRod. They need add that unmeasurable factor into odds against undefeated fighters that seem to be better in every way, but he always wins.

Not sure those guys are better in every way, but I do think there are avoidable pitfalls a lot of MMA fans fall into.

Someone comes in to the UFC with a really, really strong upside and that gets all the focus while more subtle attributes are consistently overlooked. CRod isn't as good of a grappler or as intense as Raul Rosas Jr or Isaac Dulgarian, but he manages his fights way better than either of those guys have ever done so far.

MMA fans like to judge future fights in terms of a predictable set of skills and attributes: striking, wrestling, grappling, chin, cardio, etc.

But they/we rarely factor in calmness, battle-testedness (not a word, but you know what I mean), and even now I think defensive positional grappling is overlooked. These are all considered 'x-factors', when actually they're right there to be seen, judged, and taken into account.

Yes there is almost no such thing as better everywhere, there are too many factors, big and small. I think what CRod is good at is surviving, and as you say, staying calm. They gas out on him feeling like they have him and in the end he’s still there, then they realize too late that he’s got more left then they do. Takes them into deep waters.

In a way, it’s a nice reality check for the fans who see undefeated fighters as Marvel superheroes.

These people are getting into the ufc with 7 8 wins. That is stupid unless your a Jones or even Alex, bo, someone who is a legit high end prospect. This is the issue with the lack of regional orgs now. A lot of these fighters shouldn't be fighting these 20.fight veterans it's dumb.
Even back in the day you needed an 8-1 win-loss ratio to get into the UFC. That was the norm and imo made sense.

Now we have guys with 0-4 MMA fights getting into the UFC. (Yeah I'm talking about Alex)

That UFC use to be for the best established fighters on the planet. Now they are letting in any Tom, dick and Harry with a winning record into the UFC.

Oh no!

I mean rest are fine to lose but not Colby Thickness!

Of ones who have fought this year you have:
- Tallison Teixeira 8-0
- Hamdy Abdelwahab 4-0
- Jacobe Smith 10-0
- Nurullo Aliev 10-0
I'll have to look out for them

Yeah, makes it fun

Think you might be a bit bias. lol I think the fight to make is Shara vs Adesanya, would be a banger.
Do it.

I'm here for it.
