This shit is hilarious. <lmao>

Not smart of Monica to throw SAS under the bus like that, don't bite the hand that feeds you.

When it comes to speaking NBA it's clear that SAS has given her a massive platform, because her takes are usually pretty damn bad. She's got a spot there for inclusion purposes, but there are a lot of other women who could talk basketball a lot better than her (like former players).

McNutt has to be an all time great in the annals of hilarious names.

Was watching some of the 2011 finals last night.

Been watching a lot of basketball lately, my feeling was that the 2024 play off Mavs would torch both of those teams. Pretty underwhelming.

Can't take for granted how much better the shooting has gotten in the last few years.

It's hard to say. Some of the 2024 Mavs games were a bit comical but some of them were impressive.

The 2011 series was strange in general and a few people underperformed but games were tighter defensively and points were harder to come by. There are some series from a while back that look so much more competitive and impressive than recent years and there are others that look a bit underwhelming. It's hard to compare the teams across different eras, especially when we watch within the context of what's currently happening.

Yeah you make some good points.

Although the thing about the tighter defenses is, the current nba players are able to get off all kinds of crazy 3's with very little space (they could have done that in any era). A lot of the spacing changes are due to the 3, not changes in rules.

I watched a full play off game recently with Kobe and Shaq lakers recently, and Kobe and Shaq were good, but the role players and other team looked worse than the G-league / summer league. Guys missing heaps of easy mid range shots, average athletes.. etc.

Damn, must be my own fault but the amount of bullshit notifications I get to watch WNBA dramas is annoying as fuck. The amount of money spent and hype trying to build that league is in overdrive. Sorry, let's be honest, the product fucking blows. It's like trying to sell me pet rocks.

Eh, I don't know. Obviously people shoot more threes, the pace is much higher, and spacing has changed but there's a pretty big imbalance between offense and defense. The defense these days is often sub-standard by comparison. It's trended that way for a while imho.

Everyone looks good when they're winning and playing well. The defending champs looked mostly like garbage against the Wolves. Aaron Gordon had the highest 3P% on the team, the role players were a disaster, and guys looked like they'd never learned how to play defense. You could have picked up a bunch of cans off the street and threw them out there with the same results. There were series where Derek Fisher, Robert Horry, Rick Fox etc were lights out. It's hard to make sweeping generalizations based off of one series or playoffs.

This is undoubtedly true. That's why discussing previous generations is an absolute joke. There is video evidence of a gap in skillsets. We just went through an era of "3 and D" guys. That lasted about 7 years where all those guys have to be more or are out of the league. Before then you could have defensive specialists or a 3 point specialists. Those became 1 and now those guys have to do so much more.

The league is still filled with guys that look like that. I'm continuously puzzled by how many guys in the league can't dribble more than twice without being in jeopardy of turning the ball over. Its part of the reason why Dante Exum is getting no minutes to speak off. Hell, the 24 time DPOY Gobert has maybe the worst offensive skill set on any Center in the league. When he shoots the ball it looks like he never shot a basketball in his life. And don't get me started about how many guys in the league right now that can't play both with their back to the basket and facing the basket.

Lmfao. The DPOY can barely shoot the basketball and is airballing free throws.

It's hard to even watch how bad this shit is.
