@Rawex @Deffid

surely F1 is not normally this boring? It seems like MB and Lewis will win every race, and Belgian GP was boring AF to watch. midfield is more exciting, it is fun rooting for lando/mclaren
Couple seasons ago it was better when it was Mercedes, Ferrari and Redbull going neck and neck (+ Redbull having good/great drivers, Albon is not a bad driver but he cant keep up with Max).

Top 3 is almost a lock right now (usually Hamilton-Bottas-Verstappen in that order. Cant blame Bottas, he is a good driver but Lewis is a top 5 driver all time if not the best).
If you want to see great racing, middle of the pack is great watch. Maybe things change next season due to new rules (and whatever happens with new corona stuff).

How bad was Ferrari cheating last year to have such a huge drop off?

Pretty bad. They "stole" 2-3 important guys from Alfa Romeo quite recently and still Kimi finished ahead of both Ferrari's in last race. Seems like without the cheating they really messed up their current car.

Red Bull is the second best car on the grid but I think the margin is wide to Mercedes. Max is outdriving the car at the mo. Albon is pretty much putting the car where it should be (but making a hard go of it). Should be ahead of Renault and Racing Point

Verstappen loses it in the Ascari chicane and tagged the wall taking the nose off and red flagging practice one. He was able to drive it back to the pit.

Seems like Formula One is kind of in shock over Claire Williams announcing that she will be leaving the team after this weekend.

Williams family pulling out definitely comes as a shock.

lets see how quali goes today with party modes banned. I’m also curious to see if there is a mess up like last year when everyone was waiting to go out and time expired. That was classic.

Mercedes pulled a fast one, going out early on the final qualifying run so other cars couldn't get a tow.

Sainz with a surprising 3rd.

Q1 was a shit show at the end. Vettel was caught up in it and fails to make Q2 at 17th. Leclerc fails to make Q3 starting 13th.

Lewis beats Bottas by .069
Sainz and Perez have the second row with Verstappen in tow.

Can anybody capitalize on tire strategy tomorrow? I assumed that Mercedes would run the mediums in Q2 so they could start the race on them but they ran on soft tires and so did everybody else who transferred into Q3. Can they make the soft tires last long enough for a one stop or will they make 2 stops? Mercedes has a second a lap on those in the bottom 10. It's about a 24 second pit time differential so they might be able to make an extra stop if they can manage to be even 1/2 of a second faster a lap in a 53 lap race.

If past races at the track are compared, cars have started on the soft compound and finished on mediums in a one stop race. It doesn't seem like an alternate tire strategy can beat Mercedes but it might work against the cars starting 6th through 10th.

Can someone explain how IMSA races work? I get that there are four classes racing at once. Are there 4 winners per race? Are the different classes competing against each other In any way or are they simply sharing a track? Is there an advantage to beating a lower class car? Is it essentially four separate races?

Quali was good. I have a feeling Bottas is gonna be aggressive on the start tomorrow. May cause a crash. Looks like party mode being banned slowed red bull?

F1 has this BORING for some time. Add the "Lewis" factor and it becomes boring AND offensive.
totally boycotted the season.

Yes, it's like 4 different races being run on the same track at the same time which can lead to chaos like yesterday at Atlanta as faster cars catch slower cars. They run long duration races so they don't run 4 separate 6 hours races. They also don't have many entries in each class so it would be a very boring race with just a few cars on the track.

Been rooting for Chastain but I can't feel bad for him after he took out Allmendinger last week. Hamlin screwed him over today though.

Thanks. Seems like it would be somewhat hard to follow. Does anyone here watch it?

It does get difficult to follow as each car has three drivers so you need a program to keep track of who is driving what car, how many laps they've completed and the pit strategy. The coverage usually isn't very good at keeping viewers informed of many of those things so it is difficult to follow and especially for new fans to follow.

Race almost started. Not sure why people find this boring. Merc has the best car. But both drivers are able to race. When schumi had the best car, Eddie and rubens weren’t allowed to race. Even Webber wasn’t really allowed to race seb for most part.
