2020 Motorsports thread.

They found the problem with Keven Harvick's car overnight and he came back today to completely dominate the race at Dover. The win locked Harvick into the season point championship with one race at Daytona left before the playoff series starts.

43 year old Takuma Sato wins at Indy and 44 year old Kevin Harvick at Dover.

Kind of a screwed up day as NBC had the coverage for 3 races that overlapped each other.
 
Glad sato won. Also glad didn’t have to hear the nonsense when he won last time on memorial weekend.

The announcers were talking about magnesium wheels. I thought magnesium was banned in racing because the only way to extinguish it is to cover it with sand or a dry chemical. It appeared that they put it out with the water extinguishers that they use for alcohol fires. Water on a magnesium fire will accelerate the fire. I remember when flares were used to warn of dangers on the roadway, before the reflective triangles. They would burn in the rain and had to be allowed to burn out. Even dipping them in a bucket of water wouldn't extinguish them.

I never actually watched them extinguish but you are right. A powder extinguisher is used for metal fires. It was cool to watch though.
 
Ricciardo was second fastest behind Verstappen in practice 2 but later lost hydraulic pressure and had to stop on the track. It was a cool day and teams are trying to figure out what tires they will need for the race and are also trying to decide if it's going to rain to determine how much downforce to use.
 
wow these xfinity drivers are stupid.
chastain, running second, wrecks teammate allmendinger on the last turn of last lap
to let third treammate haley go on to win at daytona.
chastain came off like a little bitch in the post race interview.
AJ sounded classy after being wrecked, touting the team ethic but you
could tell he was pissed.

Allmendinger isn't in the running for the Xfinity championship so the win and points wouldn't do him any good. Chastain is in the playoffs, doesn't have a win and needs playoff points. Chastain had a run and got inside Allmendinger. Allmendinger shouldn't have pinched him down. He only did because he thought his team mate would back off. On the last lap, nobody is backing out of the throttle. Allmendinger might have been able to beat him to the line if he had moved up.
 
not convinced of the pinch down tbh
but maybe AJ just assumed chastain would allow him to win.
chastain did zero for himself and even less for the team.
there will be closed door talks, count on it
