Elections 2020 Democratic Primary Thread: The Announcements

A lot of these online Bernard Sanders supporters appear to have a screw loose.

I just watched a CNN breakdown of the new Iowa polling. I found the coverage to be fair and balanced. I don't like any of the candidates so I have no dog in the race.

Then I see the top comment:

The establishment has already started trying to sabotage Bernie Sanders again. Wow. Did the Democrats learn nothing from 2016?

I guess these people are angry that the CNN analysts pointed out that Biden and Sanders are benefitting from near-100% name recognition, while candidates like Harris and O'Rourke might expect to poll higher after they get their names out there. It's a completely fair point, but not if you're a paranoid Sanders supporter.

Ha. I havent seen the CNN one, but I said the same here.

Sanders, a progressive populist who held a rally in Iowa as the poll was being conducted last week, gained 6 percentage points from 19 percent in the group's previous poll released in December. Biden fell 5 percentage points from 32 percent in the last poll.

Oh that article is hilarious. The meat of the story is about Bernie surging 6 points in Iowa, and Biden dropping 5 points, but if you don't sift through their bullshit, you would never know that.

I think the majority of the people would read that article, and think it is good news for Biden.

Fake news.

Real news is that Bernie is already surging.

The headline of that story should be Bernie surges 6 points, Biden falls 5 points.

"100% name recognition, while candidates like Harris and O'Rourke might expect to poll higher after they get their names out there" Why is Harris and O Rourke given this luxury. Why not Tulsi, Yang or another progressive candidate. It's their self anointed front runners with no polling data backing them up. Kamala has nothing besides money and the media saying she's a front runner cause crickets. Biden I get it he's polling first under scientific polls. This part not so much.

In 2016 do you think Bernie was given that treatment with his zero name recognition?

We're paranoid because all of our "crazy conspiracy theories" from 2016 were proven correct in ways most aren't. Tulsi for example literally got blackballed for endorsing Bernie(and that is a fact not just cause she said it but cause wikileaks released the email where that is said).

"Fair and Balanced"?

If it is, it's only because there are no Republicans involved.

When it involves their own, only THEN do they call it "objectively".

That's why CNN and MSNBC are a joke.

Harris is a cop

Beta is a wealthy wall street beneficiary

They're completely fucked when more people know who they are

Warren saying “it would be more fun!” To work at a company that is broken up shows how completely out of touch she is.

The segment was about Iowa. If I were producing the segment, I also wouldn't give Gabbard/Yang much attention. That's because their polling is in the toilet. Harris and O'Rourke are polling in 4th and 5th, respectively.

It's their self anointed front runners with no polling data backing them up.

In the most recent quality national poll, Harris is in 3rd and O'Rourke is in 5th. O'Rourke hasn't even announced yet. I guarantee you he will surpass Warren within a month of his announcement.

Kamala has nothing besides money and the media saying she's a front runner cause crickets.

Again, she has pretty good poll numbers. I agree that's partly due to favorable coverage, but she has also gotten some negative MSM coverage. In the end, I think she will finish in the top four.

In 2016 do you think Bernie was given that treatment with his zero name recognition?

On CNN? Probably not. I didn't watch much of their Democratic primary coverage though. I wouldn't be surprised if someone on CNN in 2016 had pointed out that Sanders had the potential to climb in the polls as his name recognition improved.

Democrats will need to push the reasons why the system we been working on has led to multiple bank failures and bailouts. Even if you don't believe in Green New Deal at least believe in the idea that we can create a new economy without plowing trillions into Wall Street and expect it to trickle down to people.

You cannot fight the banks. They own the USA. The Federal Reserve owns the United States. We have to 'borrow' our own dollars from them with interest. It is a ponzi scheme.

Private banks create fiat currency out of thin air and loan it to us at interest.........

They own us all.

Imo they only stand a chance with Biden and I think they know that. Forget about Bernie, he will never be elected president. He will scare more people than attract.

Hahahaha!

Yeah, just like Clinton right?

Naw. Now that we no longer need the petro-dollar, we can literally go tell them to fuck off.

The only power the banksters have is granted to them. People just need to wake up, and strip them of those granted powers.

You might make a good coder. Maybe even a great one. Absolutely, absolutely no offense intended.

Neo-libs suck, and no one likes them accept for the sheep too dumb to know they are neo-liberals, and not actual liberals.
Biden would be playing the moderate role for a party that desperately needs that. I think he would be a good candidate.

What does the word moderate mean?

If you mean neo-liberal, I disagree. Moderate economics has failed.

If you mean there are 2 genders, yeah sure, I agree.

C'mon man. I'm talking about a more centrist approach, someone who's not going to push the polarization even further. Someone who's not going to campaign based on "my opponent is literally Hitler" or everything is a human right. Things need to cool down. I'm positive that anyone who brings that kind of attitude will do well. Otherwise Dems will scare people away from them (I don't care about this tbh) . And it will be difficult to bring the party closer to center again. (But I do care about this as I think it can ignite a hardline reactionary movement).
