He’s straight up pandering to minorities. His name is Robert, and he’s a rich white boy

Yes, when he was two years old and going by Beto, he was definitely planning to pander to dem stupid minorities and parlay the name into political glory since it was so obvious in the 1970s that Hispanic identity was so culturally and politically valuable.

When he decided to run for political office, he should have immediately changed his name to John Johnson so that he didn't offend hysterical right wingers looking for a reason to be outraged about identity politics.

Yeah, I mean "serious candidate" is kind of arbitrary and I don't think a person with no political experience has much of a shot in an electorate that still values institutional competence. But we'll see.

Yes, we will. :-)

We’ll see three thousand people this Friday in San Francisco as well! The grass roots are strong with Yang! Thanks for all the knowledge you share here!

I would tell Robert that my culture is not his costume

On the other hand Ted should stick to Rafael....sounds a lot better than Ted

Dude def panders to Latinos though. Instead of the anthem he brings out a mariachi band and says he would take down the border wall.....not even trying to hide it

. It's a stereotype dating back to the Vietnam War era that conservatives repeatedly use to claim that educated and principled people are naive and ignorant because they don't support policies that those conservatives cannot defend on their merits.

The guy disagreeing with you is someone you would almost certainly call "left". He's an ardent Bernard Sanders supporter (yuck).

This is a really good point. Yet another reason why I predict Biden to fall off as the primary campaign wears on.

Also, I expect that the Democrats' insistence on proportional primaries is going to hurt them this time. I predict this race will last much longer than 2015/2016, as multiple candidates amass respectable delegate counts. A brokered convention is likely.

@VivaRevolution @xcvbn

Since you guys are fans, did you catch Gabbard's appearance on Colbert? I was not impressed. For a candidate whose biggest appeal is subversion of political orthodoxy, she could have maybe flaunted her military service less. Her very first pitch on her candidacy was to the effect of "through my service in the American armed forces, I learned the value of giving one's life toward a higher purpose."

Fucking barf.
It's pretty fucking nauseating tbh. Everytime she goes into her service, beyond the part about her job of combing through injured/KIA lists on a daily basis looking for her fellow statesmen, I have to skip it or mute.

But that's just her version of identity politics so I ignore it and move on. She's an important anti-interventionist voice and needs to be heard.

Robert O'Rourke has announced. Another prediction comes true.

I further predict he will finish in the top 5.

Okay everbody....

SCORECARD TIME!

the obsession with the name beto is the most bizarre thing. trump supporters think they are being cute but it just makes them petty and obsessed with ethnicity.

Obama went by Barry until it was politically expedient to go by Barack.

Lol exactly.

Anyone on the left who announces they are running are instantly a terrible person and give it some time before they make him out to be worse than Hitler. It’s what they do

Obama went by Barry until it was politically expedient to go by Barack.

That would be a more valid claim.

However, do you really think that "Barack" is more politically expedient than Barry? Particularly in the 1990s when he went into politics? I struggle to believe that you actually think having an African/Arab-sounding name is really a way to curry favor in America, particularly in the era of 9/11.

Although, to be fair, "Barry" is just a dorky name overall. So maybe it was a lesser of two evils.

I predict he wins the primary and goes on to annihilate Trump

Have you heard Robert talk? The only guy I think has a small chance against Trump is Biden everyone else gets btfo

Beto in particular....all Trump has to do is replay over and over him saying he’d take down the border wall and that walls kill people

He is also pandering to the Irish with his O'Rourke.

Yes I have heard him talk. He is thoughtful, smart, respectful and knows the issues. 4 things we cannot say for Trump.

Not surprised that your recommendation would be to play a soundbite over and again. You should be a campaign manager with such a winning strategy
