@Fawlty, I think admitting it's a problem that needs addressed and then summarily dismissing an idea that is a pretty basic nod toward addressing it is....problematic. It's not something that can be resolved by the private market, clearly, as the market has failed to address it and, also, because a significant portion of the market is actively rebelling against firms taking even the most conservative of action against it. Without analyzing the constitutional issues, a half-measure sort of deal might involve delegating state enforcement power to some sort of panel of experts in journalistic professionalism and First Amendment law, but that would receive the same scorn (and would additionally get flack from the left for outsourcing democracy to private interests).
