With the exception of what is happening on campuses, you would have to be reading Breitbart to take agree on anything you just said about the Dems in the last part of your post. The party has hardly changed while the other side was gone schreeching of the deep end. It’s why I’m on the lib cuck list when I identified as a conservative for quite some time.

People keep saying it's not the mainstream wing of the party, and I'm sure it isn't yet. But it's slowly creeping in, and identity politics has taken over. The actual politicians just haven't caught up yet.

That isn't to say that the Republicans aren't just as bad. I'd never switch to (R). I'm just observing what I've seen within my own party within these last few years.

I think the idea that we got trump because the Dems went crazy has a certain internal logic to it, I hear it often enough from smart friends of mine, but I can’t help but see it is just not historically correct.

The southern strategy, the tea party (and when you look at how the fans of the tea party then voted trump, it was never about debt but about identity), birtherism/trumpism is the culmination of a process that completely predates even gay marriage never mind this tranny stuff.

I would agree that Dems are guilty of outreach to the extremes, both sides do it. Some attendees at the dem convention should not have been there. But I stop and seeing any “both sides are the same” here, it’s clealry not.

Climate-science denialists are making an objective claim about the world--either that climate scientists are collaborating on a hoax to fool the public into thinking that the world is getting warmer (or that the warming is due to human activity) or that they are missing something obvious. In this controversy, you're not seeing differing factual claims--it's just about the meaning of the word "gender" (you're insisting that it should be changed to be identical to sex, while others think that it is convenient to have two different words to refer to different things).

But the thing about it that riles most people up isnt that they do it its that the rest of us are being told we have to play make believe and stand by and watch these loon parents and doctors poison a generation of children to prove how non bigoted they are

No one has to do anything. There's no platform calling for legally enforced politeness. You're free to call transgendered people whatever insults you want to call them. Even if you're among the 70% of college kids who know what "gender" means, you can still hate them, shout at them as they walk by, write screeds about how awful they are, whatever.
