I can't see it being Kasich. Has to be Jeb or Rubio. They both have been picking up decent endorsements (Rubio- Scott and Gowdy, Jeb- Graham). Wonder if Haley will rock the boat and also pick someone.

Do you believe that endorsements mean anything today?

I mean, I get if the ghost of Bear Bryant showed up and endorsed someone in Alabama, it would make a difference, but I would actually argue that with the anti-establishment narrative out there, it could actually harm a candidate.

Hell, I am a pro-union guy, and I have set a meeting a week from now with my district president, to ask him why our union engages in zero organization, and why our district doesn't employ anyone with an organizing background.

Unions don't even have people power anymore. The majority of politicians have their jobs due to the DNC/RNC, and advertising money.

As far as I can tell the value of a political endorsement has been reduced to a days headline in the media.

Rubio blames debate performance for poor finish
Sen. Marco Rubio blamed his lackluster performance in Saturday's GOP debate for his poor showing in the New Hampshire primary.

“Our disappointment tonight is not on you. It's on me. It's on me,” Rubio said in his concession speech. "I did not — I did not do well on Saturday night, so listen to this: That will never happen again."

Yes, it means a lot for the establishment lane. It also does for the other lane as well but it's harder to figure out where that matters. For Ted Cruz, he picked up VanderPlatts and King in Iowa to make a strong showing in that state. Those endorsements definitely were helpful to his win. Obviously Trump is his own thing and there isn't much in the past to look to for seeing if endorsements even help him.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-dean-scream-what-really-happened/

Basically debunks the Dean Scream thing.

And apparently the internet is more powerful now than 10 years ago. At least when young people get off their asses and vote.
I'd like to believe Kasich could do well but his best debates were the first one in his own state and the recent one where he realized he should do more than just talk about his record during his whole allotted time. Problem with him is I don't think he does well with exchanges. Christie was able to do that for him last debate.

The Dean comment isn't accurate. Dean was slowly dropping off in the polls before Iowa's caucus and now the media pretends he was the frontrunner at the time and the scream destroyed him. Just as inaccurate as Carter leading Reagan all the way until the end.
His 'happy warrior' schtick is short-term. He's going to have to attack the other candidates because his numbers everywhere else are very low. And he's not the type that sounds good while attacking, and he's got his shit pushed in by the counter punches.

This will be his only primary that will be percieved as a victory.

Howard Dean had nothing on Ron Paul (and Dean looked poised to take the nomination before the screech).

He was poised to win Iowa, and placed third. That alone put in question all the other polls that were in his favor.

We'll never know how well he would have done, because of the screech and the hilarity afterwards.
Fuck you guys. The Dean Scream doomed him, and no amount of reason will convince me otherwise.

I don't want a hardcore conservative or liberal as our next President, which is why I'd like to see someone like Kasich win. But the dude is staler than penicillin. I think he put all his eggs in a basket in New Hampshire and it won't transfer elsewhere, but hopefully I'm wrong. I guess South Carolina will put things in perspective.

I don't think Christie Creme is a bad candidate, but the whole bridge fiasco pretty much doomed him. It's because he's fat.

Hulk Hogan gets my vote. He is a real American that fights for the rights of everyone. He fights for what's right. He fights for our lives.

Rubio sounds like a broken record.
He says the same damn thing in every debate.

If you throw him a stump question, he'll dodge it and talk about Obama.

Why is it that all the pundits are saying Clinton will be favored in states with more blacks and hispanics? Why would they view her favorably? Or is it just that they have no idea who Sanders is?

Because of Bill. He was super popular in those communities. They think the Clinton name will carry it.

Its a good tactic. To make sure Obama doesnt get to stay in the white house is the most important thing

There are other people here that agree. However, the longer it takes to winnow the field the less chance the establishment candidate has. If the GOP establishment hasn't settled on a single candidate by Super Tuesday then Trump or Cruz will be the nominee.

Rubio should have never messed with Jeb to begin with. He should have played the good protege, taken the VP spot, and waited his turn. Bush/Rubio would have had a good chance in the general. He got greedy. Now the whole party could be fucked. Haha.

hi NelmarksGhost,

Rubio's problem was his stance on immigration, which is so 2012.

in the aftermath of the shellacking Romney took against Mr. Obama, the GOP briefly considered broadening their platform and not being so hostile to issues that concern hispanic voters. Rubio's immigration plan was part of that outreach.

alas, though, the GOP returned to their immigrant bashing ways, and now Mr. Rubio will get tarred and feathered by Trump/Cruz on the issue...and i'm not sure Mr. Rubio is light enough on his feet to parry their salvos.

Interesting point of view. I think I read your first post to mean you thought the money and advertising would win out. I see you are actually saying that the multitude of choices is making Trump appear stronger than he is. I don't disagree, it is a good point.

The reason I think Kasich is the real threat is that when he talks, I don't hear poll driven, political consultants talking. He has the ability to come off as somewhat genuine.

I am of the opinion today, that I got this all wrong when many of us viewed Sanders and Trump's surge, as being anti-establishment. I think it is about authenticity, which is why I view Trump and Kasich as the real contenders. When viewed through this scope, I don't think platforms matter much.

good late evening, HendoRua,

Kasich said this;

"This isn’t popular to always say, but I believe there is a problem with climates, climate change in the atmosphere," he said Thursday, according to the Columbus Dispatch. "I believe it.

now...if there is anything at all that is politically incorrect to say to the GOP electorate and their establishment, its those very words. Jon Huntsman learned that in 2008, and i do believe that Mr. Kasich is going to get eviscerated for saying that in 2016.

acknowledging climate change is verboten for the GOP.

he might as well be saying he's gay and would like to get married.

You say "immigration", but it sounds to me like you're actually talking about illegal immigration.

The United States' immigration system processed and accepted millions of new immigrants each and every year, and I haven't seen the GOP said a single word to bash any of them like you asserted.

Why do seemingly-intelligent posters in the WR actually adopted the Left's twisted view of equating illegal narcotics to all FDA-tested-and-approved medicines is beyond me.

Politicians and the lamestream media blatantly bullshitting around the bush and afraid to say it like it is is the reason why a psycho like Donald Trump got this popular base on straight-talking and not much else.

(Leading Democratic contender Bernie Sanders is also bat-shit crazy with his plan for a $1.3 trillion/year Universal Health Care program funded by 6 separate tax hikes in order to provide coverage for all illegal immigrants, but that's another topic).

We're not politicians here, nor are we the lamestream media, so let's just be honest and call a spade a spade in our discussions, k?

Now, let's do that again, do you wanna talk about immigrants, or illegal immigrants?

Winners:
Duck Trump
Kasich
Feel the Bern
Losers
Robot Rubio
Hildawg

Hildawgs problem is nobody is excited to vote for Hildawg. This is 2008 for her all over again, except this time it's worse. 2008, Obama was a smooth brother who was promising change.(his presidency was not much change) Now Hildawg can't even beat a socialist. I thought this campaign was a formality for Hildawg.
The GOP is going to boil down to Duck, The Carpet Bombing Canadian and whomever makes it out of the 3-some of Kasich, Robot Rubio and Bush the Younger. Everyone else needs to drop out.

The idea of bloomberg running as an independent is hilarious. A huge portion of the dem vote wants to make billionaires pay more and think Hilldog doesn't do enough, and he thinks they are going to rally behind him, one of the richest people in the country? LOL. And good luck getting republicans who hate big government to vote for you when one of the most memorable things you tried to do was a ridiculous large size soda ban, which is the epitome of big government interfering on people's lives in pointless issues.
