It rings hollow when the point of your speech is to prove your family isn't just a bunch of rich guys who don't give a fuck about the poor. It would be akin to obama giving a speech on how he faced the struggles of drugs in the community growing up and then name dropped meth as the drug of choice in the community. It kinda takes away from your "street cred" in those situations.
