My takeaway from tonight is: Hillary bad. Economy bad. No idea how to fix Economy.

I did not need the convention to tell me Republicans thought this.

Also, so far Trump's promise of making the convention more watchable than normal is false. It is pretty much as average as always.

Strategy is clearly to pick up the conflicted independents and slight leftists that can never fall in love with Trump but could either be persuaded to vote for anyone but Hillary or just not vote at all (as opposed to give her a vote).

After 8 years of saying Obama has no experience, you cant argue for Trump having experience. 8 years of Obama being thin skinned narcissist you cant argue Trump being any better there. 8 years of Obama being not Christian, you cant argue Trump being a man of faith as he has openly talked about cheating on his ex wife, talked about how many women he fucked. Agreed. Both of trumps kids did really well. As van jones said, if you like the kind of thing Christie did then good for you. Absolutely unpalatable for me though.

I don't always agree with what he says but I really like hearing Van's commentary on things. Smart guy and very well spoken.

I'm canadian so, no, early 6 figures easily gets you to the point where you notice the difference. And according to candidate tax calcs, the difference is still pretty noticeable between hillary and trump -- factor in peoples state and property taxation and 5 points in saving makes a noticable difference -- especially since people 45 and younger won't see a cent of SS which makes a huge % of their tax dollars - or will never us social assistance. And some rather just pocket that portion of those tax dollars and be incharge of their own security net.

I'm for gay love, racial eqaulity and abortions -- I just don't want to pay extra for the party who promotes it as their cornerstones. Give me the raving religious looney who let's me keep 20k in fed taxes in my pocket.

I shouldn't have said loaded, that was dumb hyperbole on my part. Still, most households aren't pulling early 6 figures, and again you have to factor in all the shit Republicans will break either through incompetence or sheer malice. Even if I made enough to be totally insulated from conservative policy I still wouldn't want to inflict it on the rest of the country.
