2016 GOP Convention Thread V2

It'll be interesting to see the ratings from tonight's broadcast.

peter thiel is speaking tonight. hes the rich billionaire from silicone valley that is gay. is he going to mention the republican platform condemning gay marriage and promoting gay conversion therapy?

Cruz was by far the funniest part of the convention to date. Narrowly edging coked out Guiliani.

This had to be a spiteful move to try and sink trump regardless of what it does to his political career right? It was personal right? There's no way he thought this was the best way to position himself for 2020.
I do think he tried to position himself for 2020. I think that was the entire purpose. Cruz has a small, but HIGHLY dedicated following. I think he listened to his own echo chamber/bubble world too much and didn't realize how poorly he would look by doing what he did.

Cruz really needs to shut up about the issue. He did exactly the same stuff Trump did in the primary, it just didn't work on Trump because he is not a politician.

Cruz signed this pledge, had a super negative primary campaign, clearly lost and now claims he cant keep his word because of what Trump said about his family?
He should be done political after pulling this one.

Yeah, nationalism is soooooo bad!

Male Maddow : Being a proud American is bad!

And you wonder why people have problems relating with your ideology...

Cant wait to see how more screwed up the RNC is tonight.

From everything I understand today, party loyalty is more important than standing up for your own personal feelings.
You should have understood that when Bernie sold out to the party and not his personal ideology.

I think Hillary/Trump first debate could be super bowl numbers.
I don't think it'll be that high but it'll be way more than any debate in my lifetime. IIRC, the Kennedy-Nixon debate was well watched.

So here's what I found off of Wikipedia:
The first debate for the 1960 election drew over 66 million viewers out of a population of 179 million, making it one of the most-watched broadcasts in U.S. television history. The 1980 debates drew 80 million viewers out of a 226 million. Recent debates have drawn decidedly smaller audiences, ranging from 46 million for the first 2000 debate to a high of over 67 million for the first debate in 2012.

So it could come close to Super Bowl-type ratings.

Seeing Cory Booker everywhere makes me think he's going to be Hillary's choice for VP.
