Elections 2016 Democratic/GOP Super Tuesday Primary Thread

Who wins the most delegates in their party on Super Tuesday? (Pick one for each party)

  • Total voters
    23
  • Poll closed .
These debates just keep getting better. Well, more entertaining. I'm almost willing to bet there will be shouting.

Rubio really got under Trump's skin with insults over the weekend, especially the jab about Trump's small hands. To us, it was a joke to imply Trump's manhood is small, but Trump has a phobia about his small hands. He doesn't even like to shake hands.

If Rubio does something similar in the debate, that'd be Yuge.

But what if trump brings up rubios high heels, foam parties, and gay prostitution conspiracy

They really shouldn't have waited to go after Trump. The recent attacks on him have definitely hurt a bit. He did perform well under recent polling in several states, but it just wasn't enough. And when was the last time a candidate won a state, yet the majority of those who voted said they would be dissatisfied if that person won the nomination? Talk about a political party in crisis.

Interesting bit of news:

The next GOP debate is Thursday, and it's on.........FOX

Will Trump skip again? Or will we get to see him face Megyn Kelly?

Whats the over/under on her using clips from John Oliver's set?

you guys realize its impossible for Bernie to win right? Hillary already got all of the superdelegates. Bernie has literally no chance of winning. Its not even possible lol.

Superdelegates have never won any nominee de nomination. You are aware of that right?

Why are they still doing GOP debates? Aside from ratings I mean.

Ratings. The last one got 13 million viewers.

And the RNC actually cut down the number of debates compared to last cycle. Sometimes there was a debate on Sunday, and then the next Thursday.

It was ample time for liberal moderators to get their hits in. I remember half of a debate, moderated by George Stephanopolis, was about birth control. Complete nonsense.

It was reminescent of the CNBC debate last November.

But what if trump brings up rubios high heels, foam parties, and gay prostitution conspiracy

That'd be interesting.

I'm actually surprised that hasn't been brought up in MSM reports.

That said, there's much more juicy material in Trump's past, than Rubio's.

Now with 60% in the Alaska primary...

Cruz - 35.8%
Trump - 33.5%
Seperated by 300 votes.

Technically a win for Cruz, but they'd get the same amount of delegates, eleven.

I won't be surprised if they start doing face offs like in pre-fight press conferences. With the debate moderators having to physically separate the candidates. They could even weight and measure them. List their states won, delegates won, debate wins.

Alaska is a lock for Cruz, with 555 votes and 3 points seperating him and Trump, with 83% of the precincts in.

Trump will be the next president. I cant in my wildest dreams imagine the US citizens are that fucking idiotic to vote that dumb cunt into office.

Hurt my feelings? No I was having a joke, I wasn't trying to offend you. I thought you'd love the idea of being able to join the military and put your hobby to use!

I see your theroot article, and I raise you an npr article :D
http://www.npr.org/2016/03/01/468185698/understanding-the-clintons-popularity-with-black-voters
BTW, that root article misrepresents Sanders' support of the Crime Bill in pretty much the same way Hillary misrepresented Sanders' position on CFMA. He was very articulate arguing against all but the violence against woman act in any crime bill, because he had the judgement and foresight to see how it would specifically and negatively effect blacks.

Clinton has been wrong about a lot of big, important issues: Crime Bill, Immigration, SSM, Bankruptcy Reform, Iraq, Libya, Syria, NAFTA, TPP...
How many mulligans does one person get? And it is dishonest when she only just recently did that about face re: Crime Bill. Thats what I mean when people look at her 90+% liberal voting record, they take it at face value. If you dig deeper you see a pattern of betrayal of the left.

And what would you call her playing the race card and birther card in '08, if not using dog whistle racism?
Nobody has been as strong as Sanders has been this campaign when talking about racism (except Trump :/ ).

What issues are black voters wanting addressed that Sanders should be addressing?

And if he's not addressing it, then neither is Clinton because she's just copying and pasting his entire platform.

I have a hard time conceding the voting disparity to "Bernie not getting his message across". I see it as a combination of 8+ years of DNC groundwork on behalf of Hillary Clinton + name recognition + uniformed voting. Of course there are other aspects, I'm sure a solid % of black voters like Clinton for the same reason @Quipling does, and that could explain her winning the demographic, but not by these margins. IMO.

A lot of people were wrong on the dem side on the crime thing due to what was going on in the 90s, dems saw what happened and ajusted, Rs doubled down. Sure in the 90s some on the further left saw it as folly, but that was a purely ideological reaction, these same people would have nationalized all strategic industries, stopped all trade, and gazillion other things I think would be harmful. When one governs from the center mistakes get made and this was a big one.

I don't agree with you on trade in any event, so u only get a flip flop from me here on the TPP. On SSM she was ahead of Obama and btw since we are talking about blacks, they don't care so much about that issue, call them uninformed but they at best follow, the general population here.

Bernie has had the wrong message, blacks are not preoccupied with class but race issues. As my black studies teacher once said, to be poor is very hard, to be poor and black is HELL. B has not been speaking that language.

Bringing her vs. Obama is missing my point entirely. She is not using dog whistle racism against whites to get black votes so the argument that it just like Fox News breaks down. Where is her blatant identity politics that is brainwashing the Blackman to vote against his interests? Just maybe they don't care that B is ahead of everyone else on a class based agenda and buy the argument that Clinton will get it done.

The "they are misinformed" is a dangerous argument even when you use it against the backdrop of a decades old strategy to target voters based on race to propagate policy that is clearly detrimental to ones own interest a la the southern strategy. The parallel against one candidate who has real credentials based on a very subjective view of "I know best for the black man" is very very shaky.

Yeah that's true but the thing is that controversy somehow HELPS Trump where it would typically hurt a politician. It's like an alternate dimension with this clown.

Cruz coming away with 3 states is a big night for him and for Donald. If Donald crushed him yesterday he would possibly be forced to exit the race.

Little Marco is such a crybaby. He's basically on every show saying if everyone would've dropped out I could've won states.

It's hard to make that argument without a contemptuous ring to it. It is certainly sounds like contempt when we talk of angry white males being tricked by Fox News into voting for tax cuts by not so subtle appeals to identity politics. Of course there is sympathy as well but also pity which borders on contempt for some.

Frankly, I don't really like the "poor whites are being tricked into voting against their interests" either. I think they vote against their *economic* interests because that's not their only interest. But anyway, I won't belabor it. I thought that was uncalled for and not something that is helping Bernie get black voters, and I'll leave it at that.
