HateStorm has great insight into the plague that is identity politics and sees them for what they really are. I find it a little disturbing that a lot of the more liberal posters in this thread, includes yourself, and so naive to what has been happening, especially in academics and the media, regarding the infiltration of identity politics and their attempts at pushing a tyrannical agenda.

IDL is another poster who sees exactly what is going on when it comes to identity politics.

I would love to hear more about your expansive knowledge on the "infiltration" of academics. Also, who exactly do you envision pulling the strings? Is there just a shadowy black man wearing a turban, rocking a feminist tattoo sleeve, and telling scholars what to think, researchers what to find, and professors what to teach? Is that how you envision this puppet master?

Also, this post could have been taken verbatim from a Glenn Beck chalkboard segment and we'd all have been (clearly) none the wiser.

It's not some kind of conspiracy. It's something that has been building since the 60's. What has happened is that years ago specific radical groups that identify with a specific gender or skin color have managed to guilt universities into giving them their own programs where the students are indoctrinated into believing what the "professors" tell them to believe. These programs have gotten larger and more influential as the years have gone on. What is happening now is that a lot of students graduating from these programs are beginning to fill more influential positions. People graduating from identity politics groups are getting jobs in universities as administrators, educators, advisers and so on.

Another big area being infiltrated by students graduating from identity politics programs is the media. Have you noticed that nearly every website, newspaper, and news show now seems to have a quota to fill when it comes to talking about women and people of color "issues." Look at what is happening now to celebrities like Kaley Cuoco. If they don't admit to being a feminist it becomes headline news and they are attacked by angry feminist mobs and their attempts at an apology are mocked with even greater hysteria. There are now countless news sites that hyper-focus on women's issues and demonize men like Salon, Huffington Post, Jezebel, Vox, MSNBC, The Young Turks, Rolling Stone... and so on.

Much of the recent political correctness trends of late stem from identity politics and are used censor and discourage legitimate criticism of specific groups.

There is an excellent book discussing the matter titled The Victim's Revolution written by Gay author Bruce Bawer (I mention his sexual preference because, according to the progressive stack and Liberals, being gay makes Bawer nearly infallible).
