Under the table deals will go on in every corner of the world - rules or no rules. They are there just so the NBA can say they are there.

Only 3rd world franchises like the TWolves will ever get caught.

It's just weird because in the NFL you see stars opening saying they would take a paycut to bring a specific player in.
Now that I think about it I am not sure if it is a rule or not in the NFL.

There's nothing wrong with saying you're willing to take a paycut to give your team more flexibility.

It's the getting paid on the back end, or getting hooked up sometime later on is what's illegal.

Prokhorov should be under investigation for his swindle of Kirilenko who was valued more than $3mil at the time before he signed with the Nets.

Think he had a $10 Mil offer from the Mormons.

'Merica doesn't even have any power in Russia; lol @ the NBA investigating anyone from there.

A few million was definitely transferred into a Russian bank under the name Vasily Vasilyevich, though, and was picked up shortly after by a close acquaintance of Kirilenko.

So why are there even rules against collusion? If these three opt out then resign with the heat to have more cap for a stronger bench and whatnot isn't it obvious they colluded?
I don't even care because I don't think it hurts anyones legacy to move around and if I played I would be trying to put myself on a winning team too. What I don't understand is making a rule that is impossible to enforce unless you have those three under the NSA's eye.

lol collusion. Where is the evil in players taking less money in order to build a better team? That's been going on in pro sports forever and it was always seen as an honorable thing to do until Heat players started doing it. I don't remember any "collusion" allegations being brought up when the Spurs did the same exact thing (a Spurs franch that oh by the way blatantly tanked to get Duncan in the first place).

My sources are telling me Pau to the Heat.

Serious lols @ Houston declining Chandler Parsons' team option for next season. His 2014-15 salary would've been all of $964,750. Now they're faced with either losing him for nothing or having to match and re-sign him for anywhere between $8-12M/yr.

few things about that move from houston's perspective.

Parson's will have a cap hold of under 2 million dollars this summer but still has his bird rights meaning the rockets could go out and sign other free agents to max out the slaray cap, then turn around and still pay parson whatever they want over the salary cap limit. SO even if he ends up getting paid this summer, it wont hurt their chances at signing others in free agency.

Secondly, by houston declining his option this year, parsons will be a restricted free agent and the rockets can match any offer. Had they paid him his 960k salary this year, next summer he would have been unrestricted and they believe the market for him might be even higher next summer and could have really ran up his price tag on top of the fact he could choose to leave without their say in matching.

For some reason I just assumed you waive Bird rights if you decline a team option

Kidd being Kidd.

Jason Kidd reportedly pushed for a power play in Brooklyn, demanding the role of overseeing the Nets, in addition to being head coach, and was denied.
Kidd supposedly didn’t want general manager Billy King to be fired, but did want to become his boss, despite having just one year of coaching experience. As a result of the failed power play, the Bucks asked for, and received, permission to talk to Kidd. Larry Drew is officially having a bad day, as he's currently the head coach in Milwaukee. This is a pretty bizarre story that came out of left field, and you have to think that Kidd has done enough damage with the brass in Brooklyn to end the relationship. CBS' Ken Berger also points out that new Bucks owner Mark Lasry is close with Kidd, serving at one time as his financial advisor, which makes the Kidd-to-Milwaukee move look like a strong possibility.

Birdman, and Chalmers on their way out?

With LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all set for an apparent return to the Heat, Chris Andersen could be an odd man out for Miami next year.
Mario Chalmers is in the same boat as Andersen, while guys like Ray Allen, Udonis Haslem and possibly James Jones appear likely to return to the team. The Heat are hoping to add at least one more big name this summer, with Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry, Marcin Gortat and Trevor Ariza being some early targets. Simply put, Chalmers and Andersen are probably going to get bigger offers than the Heat will be able to handle.

lol at Birdcan getting a big offer from anyone. He played terrible in the Finals and will be 36 years old when the season starts.

Wtf is going on Brooklyn....

You know Kidd is looking at all those first year coaches like Kerr and Fish, those bloated salaries and crying himself to sleep.

i dont know whats worse, the fact birdman is old and sucks or the fact he was the heats best post presence in the finals

i dont blame kidd for wanting control in brooklyn, the gm there dropped the ball big time. But kidd needs to focus on his career as a coach. Still cant believe the putrid offense they ran down the stretch of games vs the heat in the playoffs.

To be fair they said bigger offers than the Heat will be able to give. Not a big offer.

G: Lowry
G: Wade
F: Bern
F: Melo
C: Gortat

Bench:

Napier
Allen
Ariza
Bosh
Haslem
Jones

With the right paycuts, I don't see why not.

Kidd has always been a G. My cousin's husband went to school with him in Berkeley and he said he would interrupt classes with his posse and turn in papers to the professor and then leave. Most students in athletic programs do this all the time though.

Windhorst: @WindhorstESPN: Bucks coach Larry Drew & front office was unaware Jason Kidd was about to interview for their jobs, sources told ESPN

There's a difference between signing for less than expected and opting out of a contract to take less money with the same team. The only player I can think of that did that was Vince, but he didn't do it so that he could get more help on the team. The Nets actually started shedding players as soon as he signed it.

Kidd actually asked for a raise. So the oligarch responded by firing him lmao

Duncan took a pay cut from $21.2m to $9.7m in 2012. Does it really make a difference that Heat players did it this season rather than next?

Unless Heat players are being paid under the table or promised some financial reward in the future, they didn't violate any rule. If Bern gets a max deal in a few years that wouldn't qualify because he's already expected to get a max deal regardless.
