I

In fact, I'll make a bold prediction right now: Uruguay won't make it past the group stage.
Well its possible. But i will still put money on Italy and Uruguay when they play England :icon_chee

They just trimmed his meniscus a bit. He's going to be ready

USA 23-man squad.
GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa/England), Tim Howard (Everton/England), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (8): DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla/Mexico), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin/Germany), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City/England), Timmy Chandler (N

An early admission of defeat, Canti?

Well, Klinsmann giving zero fucks about seniority, it seems. Now who'll lead the Murricans? Dempsey? Bradley?

I just don't think Donovan is going to be the difference between advancing or not advancing out of the group. He quit soccer less than two years ago. Other players who have been more active deserve a chance to go.

Just looking at the roster though...just confused about Yedlin and Brad Davis (he's 32 and unimpressive IMO) being in. I expected Jullian Green because I'm sure he was promised a spot for switching...

Also it's not clear what formation we are going to run..

Jurgen probably had a disdain for Donovan's stupid little sabbatical he took from the game the past year or so while several other players on the USMNT were pouring their guts out during WC qualifying trying to prove themselves to make the final WC roster.

Even with Landon being a dickhead self imposed part-time National Team player in the year or two leading up to the WC, it just doesn't make any sense leaving his vital veteran skill-set off the final roster.

Damn, I don't watch much soccer but when I think of U.S Soccer Landon Donovan was always the first person that came to mind.

Sounds like the US is going to get besmirched one way or another. I'm guessing there's going to be a whooole lot of questions about this decision once (what sounds like) the inevitable happens

Donovan has more WC goals than Ronaldo, Messi, and RVP combined

That's a stat that's hard to ignore. The US MNT is worse for not having his savvy, experience, and passing ability available in certain situations, regardless of his age, relationship with the coach, or recent concerns about his fitness. He has the potential to be an asset against world-class competition, which is more than I can say about quite a few guys placed on the final roster.

Yeah, this is likely it.

A coach has to manage egos inside the locker room and cutting someone that's been busting ass for someone that sat out just because he was tired would probably piss off a lot of the other players.

Because just based on on-the-field performance, Donovan surely had enough in the tank to make it. He could come in off the bench and provided stability in the midfield. He has tons of experience so he's not gonna get rattled.

Now it's either Wigger Dempsey or Penis Head Bradley's team.

Donovan was one of those players whose abilities get upgrades when playing with a NT.

Surely Tim Howard will be Captain? I'm guessing Jurgen doesn't feel Donovan has enough in the tank to get himself going for one more WC or perhaps he isn't even fit enough. Still think it's a silly choice not to give him a squad spot but I'm not exactly clued in.

Whether he's selected or not though, it's not looking good for the team.

Dempsey for some reason is Klinsmann's captain. At least he is in form right now.
