18 years later FF: Spirits Within looks pretty good

I can't even remember this movie so I guess it was just ok. I know I did finish it. I actually thought the movie they made to watch before Final Fantasy XV was pretty good. Unfortunately the game didn't get me.
True that movie was good. I saw it on Netflix as well as the Brotherhood mini series on YouTube too but not full on movies or CG.

Are you saying that you think it’s the best simply on the basis as a stand alone movie? Like if none of the games existed, only the movies, it would be the best? If that’s what you’re saying then your position has merit. But as an adaptation it barely even fair to call it that. Best adaptation has to go to Mortal Kombat 1, Resident Evil 1 or Silent Hill 1.
Sure, I don't care. This is splitting hairs*.

RE1 and MK1 suck balls as films. FF doesn't.

Silent Hill was mostly good. I prefer Need for Speed over any of the Fast & Furious movies. Still not a strong movie.

*Edit*
For example, The Shining by Kubrick is regarded one of the greatest movies ever made, and by many the greatest horror. Stephen King hates it because it was so unfaithful to the book. Yet every version produced with high fidelity to the source material has been inferior. Strict adherence to source material isn't necessarily what makes a great film.

Yea the brotherhood mini series I didn't really enjoy but I watched them just cause I wanted to get more of the story before the game.

It better still look good. TSE damn near killed Square and made them merge with Enix.

I was a kid and saw it in theater, I was disappointed in it, but I didn't hate it.

I remember being blown away by the cast. Ming Na, Alec Baldwin, Steve Buschemi, Ving Rhames, James Woods, Donald Sutherland and Admiral Anderson... I mean Keith David. Back then those guys were pretty huge gets for a video game movie and especially for voice actors in video games and video game movie adaptations.

Too bad it's boring as shit and has nothing in it related to Final Fantasy. Whose genius idea was that?

Probably the same people who thought it was a good idea to make a movie based on a video game.

Although in 2001 that was a considerably more defensible naivete of cockeyed optimism for a burgeoning genre. Hopefully at some point it will receive a bit of the same love the Comic books were finally shown. Right now Hollywood is too busy demonizing gamers as an "other", and sermonizing against them. We're largely not the correct color or gender for them.

It's so hard out here for a middleclass white male.

Yeah, the visuals still hold up.

Everything else remains bland and uninteresting.

I guess the snarky sitcom race jokes you're regurgitating from a lifetime of watching sitcoms instead of reading books has you confused between the consumers and the developers.

Is it really you, Barry?
The Story of why i left Riot Games

Lol that would only leave lower class. Gaming is a very expensive hobby. Particularly for those obsessed with hardware performance such as yourself.

Obligatory....

<{poor?}>

never saw it, may aswell give it a try now. watched a few of the movie clips from crisis core yesterday so this should be an extra let down <45>

I always thought that animation would have been perfect for Star Wars.
The Clone Wars had a run of six seasons before being cancelled, and disney are now bringing it back for one final season. It's a really good series if you're a Star Wars fan.

it's infinitely better than the newer series Star Wars Rebels

Rebels was pretty great, although most kid-centric, for the first two seasons. It meandered, but it ended very well. I felt like it squandered some epic potential that it generated itself, but I think the finale of season 2 of Rebels beats any single episode of The Clone Wars even if the latter series was certainly superior, as you say.
