16 Greatest HW’s of all time

Somebody already mentioned it, but how is Overeem not on there? Not an Overeem fan by any stretch, but at least make it top 15 and include him somewhere.

In a sense that Cain wasn’t really Cain due to injury and long lay off. I’ve heard this opinion a lot. I don’t really agree of disagree with this statement, as it’s impossible to know which version of Cain he beat. I used the same system for everyone, so it’s actually FightMatrix you have a disagreement with;)
I’ve always hated Fightmatix .... useless

No ‘Reem?
No. TS explained to us that even though he’s the most decorated HW in all of MMA history, he didn’t get the chance to win a made up, unnecessary UFC interim belt by beating a slop fighter like Derrick Lewis, therefore he wasn’t included.
Sigh.

Thanks for saying me some typing lol

Nice List, but Cain would not make #3 on my list. Nonetheless, he would be in a Top 14 list (what happened at #15 position, lol). Cain had too many injuries to go that high and spent almost three years fighting the same two fighters.

Fedor easily should be #1.

EDIT* Don't agree with so many points given when a fighter beats someone who is past their prime. Rank doesn't always mean a lot in the thin heavy weight division. It was a lot deeper in earlier years.

Interim UFC title. Overeem didn’t even do that.

I noticed the list has Arlovski at 6 when he fought Fedor. No way would any legitimate ranking system have him so low at that point: He'd been on a tear and was the consensus number one challenger. Anyone who was around then will remember. It makes me doubt the legitimacy of the data in this thread.IMG_20210816_073955.jpg

lol

Reem beat like 30 % of the dudes on your list

Gane? gtfo

Randy Couture has no business in the top 10

Where the fuck is Igor?

Sort of yeah, but Cain wasn’t ranked by FightMatrix for inactivity. A lot of people discredit that win on that fact as well.
dude he was champ lol - it definitely shouldn't have been worth 0 points

This turned out to be a reasonable list. There may be a few out of place based on opinion for me but all in all, this is pretty good.

I have seen a few mention that there are some variables that would create accuracy issues such as absence of losses and era's. I however disagree with that.

If you consider that different era's had access to the same exposure to training techniques for the time then it would be linear to a reasonable extent or as close as is possible. So it would be reasonable to consider someone performing at a high level 10 years ago would also have the aptitude to use the techniques of present day to do the same thing, although, I don't buy into the evolution theory as much as some.

Losses don't really mean much to me, especially spanning a career where everyone does deteriorate over time. The wins are presumably achieved during the most successful point in their careers and that snap shot shows them at their greatest moments giving an impression of their overall ability when they were at their best. I can only see a few examples of high profile wins where the fighter was arguably no longer in their prime.

Overall, I think this is about as close as I have seen anyone get to a coherent rating system. Well done.

I like this idea. Also there's room for more data. Like could cross reference sherdog ranking (or what ever) and make some averages. I got one would be curious to see to see some ñon champions numbers. The black beast has so many wins he might pass most these guys

Werdum is only at 8 because TS didn't add the bonus of +25 "Ended Fedor's Streak" Legendary Fedora

I would like to make better list including loses, but I haven’t come up with an idea how to do it. I truly believe loses count as much as wins

It depends on when those losses occur and how they come about. I think that may complicate things.
