16 Greatest HW’s of all time

I would like to make better list including loses, but I haven’t come up with an idea how to do it. I truly believe loses count as much as wins
Respect yer list tho, it helps to validate ranking accomplishments by focusing on a method for measuring the quality of wins

I could, maybe I will do it. Have to find time for it though
Why are you acting like you have a life outside of sherdog bro?

On a serious note, stuff like this is interesting. Maybe I'll look into it as well if I can find the time. We could even split the load per division. How long did it take you to make this?

The weighted scale used sucks. There could be a small drop off one time between say 6 and 10. Then a large one the next. Also, the smell test... Randy Candy gets too much credit for really what are a bunch of unimpressive victories.

Losses should not be ignored.

Try harder.

Sort of yeah, but Cain wasn’t ranked by FightMatrix for inactivity. A lot of people discredit that win on that fact as well.
I haven’t heard to many people discredit the win .... so a win over real champ Cain counts as nothing ? Lol

Good work. We may not agree but solid system and nothing egregious.

It’s basically just a list of top ten wins .... meaningless imo .... but I’m 100% not a stats guy ... I watch fights .......on a positive note the layout of the thread looks really good

Not that long actually, because I used a pre-existing list by @acannxr. He has made a list for every division based on top10 wins. Props to him! To do this all from scratch is a lot of work though.

P.s. I really have a life outside this karate forum, lol

Gane ahead of Cro cop lmao ....In a few years sure .... but why premature......plus hypothetical you could get 10 pts for beating A number one ranked Tim Sylvia .....but 5 points for beating say a Josh Barnett ......A fighter is being penalized if he fought in a deep Hw division.....The top ten in pride for example was far better then the Ufc ‘s at the time .....but number one win is 10 points regardless......shit criteria to determine the best Hw ever ......

Solid work. Hard to dispute.

Either of Ngannou or Gane could end up the #1. Exciting times.
It’s not hard to dispute. I appreciate the work TS put in, but this leads to bizarre conclusions.
For example, Fedor gets 5 points for fighting an Arlovski who was only 2 1/2 years removed from being champ, and had been on a 5 fight win streak in which he beat Werdum (who was 8-2 in his previous 10, with wins over Gonzaga, Overeem, and Aleks E) Nelson (5 fight win streak), and Rothwell (13 fight win streak including Ricco Rodriguez, Soszynski x 2, and Roy Nelson plus Jake O’Brien (undefeated at 10-0 and coming off a win over Herring). Meanwhile, Stipe gets 8 points for fighting an Arlovski who was a decade removed from being champ, and had wins over people like the version of Travis Browne who would only get one more win in his career before dropping 4 straight and retiring, Brendan Schaub who would only fight one more time before retiring (that one fight being a loss to Browne), a version of Bigfoot Silva who was 2-3-1 in his previous 6 fights, lost to Arlovski, and then went 1-7 in his next 8 fights and then retired.
@ExitLUPin covered some of the issues with this system in his post as well.
This list is a fun curiosity, but it has major flaws as far as an actual ranking.

Fair enough. Not sure that I entirely agree with them removing people from the rankings, especially champs. But it is what it is.

Will you make more posts like this for other divisions?
Only if a current fighter is number one ....if not he won’t

In a sense that Cain wasn’t really Cain due to injury and long lay off. I’ve heard this opinion a lot. I don’t really agree of disagree with this statement, as it’s impossible to know which version of Cain he beat. I used the same system for everyone, so it’s actually FightMatrix you have a disagreement with;)

Also insane is that JDS gets no credit for beating Stipe right before he went on his run to win the title and become GOAT UFC heavyweight.
