Meh, all politicians will flip flop on issues depending on what's popular. This is nothing new. Both parties do it. It's like the NFL that basically tried to protect their product by limiting the misguided anthem protests in 2016 but now completely embrace it because it's a more accepted concept.

It was a very smart political move in 2008. Younger people don't understand how fringe and threatening the concept of gay marriage was to the majority of the country prior to the Obergefell v. Hodges decision.

Sort of like what single-payer healthcare (M4A) was before Bernie's first run.

I always find it incredibly odd that people want their politicians set in stone. That was in 2008, for example, and if we are to look at our current landscape and compare it to then, of course there will and SHOULD be massive differences. Leaders that are capable of admitting fault show their connection to the common person, and that they are capable of listening to the will of the people who put them in office. Someone with a rigid perspective and who believes they are unshakably right is pure poison.
