When Francis Ngannou managed to land the Fury fight, many speculated that Ngannou had bested UFC and came out as the winner in their feud…
However… when the PPV numbers came in and it was clear that Ngannou lost a lot of money for the fight promoter, it seemed like the UFC was the winner and was right that Ngannou was not worth that much $$
But then Ngannou manages to land another payday for Anthony Joshua fight…
So who are the winners and losers out of this whole situation?
Winners:
The UFC clearly won, Dana White was right that Ngannou wasn’t worth millions and had the UFC paid Ngannou that much, it would have been a losing bet, costing the shareholders of endeavor massive money and a blunder for the company.
Francis Ngannou also won: he was able to trick/or convince people to pay way more than he was worth. He was able to make millions when he generated an event that produced no money.
He also landed another boxing fight.
Losers:
PFL, the PFL gave Ngannou a cushy contractor and position as the brand ambassador. Ngannou isn’t ever fighting in the PFL and has done nothing to promote the organization. PFL clearly lost by signing Ngannou.
The people who put on the Ngannou/fury fight. Clearly lost money, terrible PPV numbers, and weird ass concerts.
Conclusion: Ngannou was able to convince people to pay him and won. UFC didn’t lose money by paying Ngannou and won.
Both Ngannou and UFC (Dana White) walked out as winners.
