why does UFC owe Jose respect when Jose has no respect for the fans?

Truth is Jose is just being a big cry baby.

The only thing he can really be pissed about is some of the medical crap the UFC was doing with him and his rib in media. Jose has sat on the sidelines for extended times also and held up the division if you want to get technical.

Jose has to understand the UFC is a business and right now Conor is the biggest business in the UFC. Jose has his interim belt so go fight someone. Conor is going to get special treatment and fighters just have to deal with it just like stars in every aspect of life get special treatment. I get everything Jose has done for the UFC and he is one of the best ever but at the same time he was never much of a draw for the UFC.

Bottom line Jose is really just pissed off about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ that Conor is making.
If there's anyone Jose should be blaming. It's himself

Its hilarious that a guy that has pulled out of so many fights, held up the division and waited 14 months between defending against chad and the Conor fight is so butthurt about being made to wait.

Technically, the FW division has never had an interim champion, until the UFC decided to give McGregor one. He had seven UFC title defenses and was already in the process of fighting guys for the second time. He wasn't holding up anything.

Compare that to now, where you had at least three contenders a few months ago, until Aldo (the guy people are complaining about), knocked off Edgar...again. McGregor is definitely the one holding up the division, if you want to get technical.

Pretty stupid to think that Dana wants to throw away money if he was that popular

It's not like he's sitting on the sidelines partying, and taking long vacations. Conor had a 10 month lay off due an ACL tear. He's about to have his 10th UFC fight in three and a half years. Aldo has had 9 UFC fights in 5 and a half years. He's making the UFC, himself and all the other fighters more money.

Everyone who fights on a Conor card makes more money. Fighters should love this guy. Aldo doesn't draw crap. Take Aldo's fight against Chad Mendes. Buy rate 180,000. His fight against Conor, 1,200,000. Conors fight agains Diaz, 1,600,000.

Conor has also already had two camps for this guy. Sparked him in 13 seconds. How motivated could he be to get back in there again and for a third time to train for Aldo again for months at a time. Especially given Aldo's tendency to pull out of fights.

If Conor loses, Aldo gets his big pay day in 3-4 months down the road. He can sit on the sidelines until then. Just stop whining.

if you are a low buyrate fighter, you are simply not doing your job

He has no respect for the fans of trash-talking, which is understandable. He has respect for the MMA fans though - gives them exciting fights and always tries his best in the cage.

Promotional work is to try and draw new fans in, not to placate the existing ones.

Jose has shown again and again in his career that he has absolutely no respect for the fans. In fact he flaunts about shirking his promotional duty. So why does UFC need to respect him? Can't wait to see Lil Jose get 13 seconds slept in the US courts

Did you see him run through the crowd in Rio? A few pimply geeks with 'here to take over' tshirts are not representative of all fans.

Because your respect isn't worth jack shit.

Just so you know.

What is with the people on this site and ppv buys? Who gives a shit

The guy is an amazingly skilled fighter who I, and many others, enjoy watching. He's one of the best of all time and he deserves respect from his employer. And other than dealing with/talking about McGregor, he's always came across as very respectful and very humble
It's just a way to discredit pioneers... it's no different when I hear young kids say Drake is better than Nas because he's sold more albums... same shit.

The only thing Aldo cares about is his legacy as a fighter. Everything else comes after that.

once he starts his own fight organization he can focus just on that. As long as he fights for the UFC, fans come first

Go reread the comment I was responding to. Income, buy rates and ACL injuries quite literally have nothing to do with anything I was discussing.

At the end of the day, there wasn't some backlog of contenders that Aldo was holding up, due to injury. As number one contenders emerged, he fought them and at one point he was repeating fights. Since McGregor has held the title, though, Aldo has been the one to knock off Edgar, leaving both he and Holloway waiting for a chance at the title, which is quite literally the definition of holding up a division. That's without touching on the other talking points concerning McGregor's lack of defenses, two (three booked) fights outside the division, and his foray into the LW division (which now also has challengers being held up).

not to mention he didn't really have that many fans in the first place. His PPV buys were awful.

Brazilians don't buy PPVs because the UFC has a deal with a Brazilian sports channel which broadcasts the PPVs.

Most of Aldo's fans are Brazilian.

UFC is an american organization, this ain't Jungle Fights
You should be banned.
