Soccer is an incredibly technical sport, you need to be naturally gifted and creative to be good at it, with only ''athleticism'' you don't go anywhere, it's not football where you just have to run and tackle other dudes.

I got to the conclusion that the normal American will never understand this, unless he plays soccer. They have a set in stone idea that atheltism as per the American definition of athwltism is what makes the difference in most sports, and that if they would throw their big athletes to soccer, they probably rule the world... imagine lebron in a soccer game lmfao... they could get the best goal keeper though...

LW: American, but could soon be overtaken by a Russian

1- Good traineirs in every discipline. The US has been importing top bjj coaches from Brazil for years, while Brazil has imported very few wrestling coaches.
2- training equipment is way cheaper compared to the income
3- large population with a diverse gene pool. Brazil has that as well, but the population isn't as big and the share of the population with access to training facilities is smaller.
4- great experience in training high level athletes
5- wrestling programs for kids
On the long run, Russia and some european countries will reduce the gap, I think.

Theres a lack of investment in talent in Brazil and Europe from the UFC relative to the days of Pride, Rings, etc plus a lot of the best trainers have moved to the USA as well making it harder for local talent to develop.

The UFC have sold the steep decline of non US talent under the false premise that US talent has out evolved it and natural the less intelligent and more nationalistic have laps it up.

What is an "American athlete" anyway? American people don't exist because they're a mixture of all kinds of races and ethnic groups. I know what a Slavic athlete is, a Germanic athlete, a Mongolian athlete, a Chinese athlete, a negroid athlete.. But there is no "American athlete". Anyone can become an American just by obtaining the citizenship, which makes American identity useless in this context.

Well, its a niche sport, so that plus America's population and the amount of $ that can be thrown at the sport make a big difference. Also we have probably the best athlete pool in the world.

Look at all the top UFC guys in the present and also in the past. Most are American. It seems to be the same in boxing. Why is this?

It seems in general that USA produces better athletes in most sports. Is it because the US funds athletes more than other countries? I mean the only other country that really produces any good fighters is Brazil and it has come to light that most Brazilian fighters failed USADA testing.

Why is it that most other countries can’t really reach the standard of skills and toughness that USA fighters have? Will it ever change? It would be nice if other countries could produce fighters who could keep up with the American guys.

We aren't we are just promoted better. UFC brass and Dana seem to hate Brazilian champions for some reason.
