Watching movies with family... and sex scene comes on... what do?

tell the wife to brace her self, cause she's just about to get the best 30 seconds of her life.

Reminds me of when I was in high school and watching The Accused at my gf's place with her family. Her parents rented it and when it finally got the the ol' pinball scene her dad decided it was time to shut it off. Not sure if I ever did catch the very end.

My whole life I would always get super uncomfortable during sex scenes in movies if my folks were watching too. Generally nothing would be said, but you could feel the tension in the room.

Now I'm a parent myself, and I went down to Calgary with my wife and toddler to visit my folks for Christmas. During our visit I watched a James Bond movie with my dad for old times sake. We were watching Never Say Never Again, and we were at the scene where Bond fucks the smoking hot Latina villain on some boat. It's probably the most graphic sex scene in any Bond movie I can think of, and my toddler comes in the room and walks right up to the TV and starts to watch, and my folks just start laughing and joking about it while I start to blush a bit.

Shift around in my seat try and show my displeasure when really I was just hiding my semi-chub. If I got fully torqued that's when I go to "get a drink."

In the west I think people are more likely to be fucked up by sex than by violence. With porn and sex addictions rampant it kind of makes sense that there seems to be a sublimanal aversion to exposing children to anything like that.

Most westerners arent gonna get shot at or seek out violence in their lives. Everyone however has a libido to answer to, and ultimatley control or succumb to. Why begin that battle before its necessary?

This general attitude far predates internet porn. It may even go back our Puritan roots.

Sure its always been there. There has never been more "temptation" than this very moment though. Actually parents letting their kids view any kind of sexuality is fairly new.

-Total Recall-
Kid Bacco "ahah She have 3 tits!"
Bacco's dad "ahah yeah"

“New” where and in what context?

For the vast majority of human history folks made very little substantial delineation between children and adults. The concept of “childhood” itself is very new. That’s not to say people went around raping kids or exposing them to sexuality (although that did happen) but they thought very little of children seeing or knowing about sex/violence.

Sure, youre right. I havent thought about it too thoroughly in my defense. The modern west has always had an odd relationship with sexuality. Free love and censorship can coexist apparently.

Hah, I guess they can. What an interesting thing to say.

I almost saw Caligula with my family a movie that had a orgy scene where multiple dudes get blown and they pop their jizz all over woman's faces luckily the vhs tape was so worn out and ruined that my sister had to returned it with out knowing what was on the tape not til years later did I learn what the movie was about, also me and my sister and some neighbor kids did see a hot blonde in a trench coat pull out her titties the movie was called Angeltown.

When I was a kid growing up, when we were watching a movie with the family and a sex scene comes up, we had to cover our eyes. Weird because if there was even extreme violence/gore, the family didn't give a shit.

Keep in mind, this was in another country that I was born and raised in.

Same thing now that I'm a parent. When my daughter was growing up, we had to fast forward the sex scenes on movies. Now, I do my research on what movies to watch with the family. Gotta pick them family movies.

How about you guys?
As a kid, my parents would strongly and publicly ( in front of the family) chastise and admonish the person who got such a movie from the movie club.

As an adult, if there’s a kid and an inappropriate scene comes up. I just reach for the remote, hit fast forward and hit play once the scene is over.

If the movie is “too much” I’m switching to a different movie.

Anytime a scene of that nature pops up with kids in the room, or the in-laws, I’ll give the standard “this movie is inappropriate folks, I’m fast forwarding / switching movies. Better address it than sit in awkward silence lol

Was wondering what happened to WoW and his wizard threads...
