Was Ubereem the best MMA fighter of all time?

I personally don't see why anyone thought Ubereem was so invincible. His weaknesses were never really tested during that 10-fight streak. I suspect that if they were, we would have seen that he still had mediocre-poor cardio, mediocre-poor submission defense, and a weak chin. The most impressive thing he did was the K1 Grans Prix, but he fought very defensively, and very was extremely risk-averse (which is smart IMO, but it hid the fact that his chin is weak).

Still a good fighter, but his hype was mainly due to his size and physique.

Brock never shoot a real bad intentions power double on the Reem before, imagine if the Brock from the Cain fight did that move on Uber.. you think he would have stopped that freight train ? I say he wouldn't, no idea what happens after if he can get back or not but he sure ass hell would be down.

Instead we got a timid single leg attempt from a Brock that was moths removed from having 12 inches of his guts taken out and him talking with his wife about retiring from fighting and they had this deal going on that he will be done soon but just let him get a pay check here and if he wins he will try for the tittle and win or lose he will be out of the fighting business but if he happens to lose then he will be out in that new years eve.. so he had massive health problems and had a training camp after losing 40+ pounds of mass for crying out loud the dude shouldn't have been fighting where is the recovery, where is the training camp not to mention all this while he got defeated badly by Cain so his mental was already down.

Now present days.. Reem's chin is even in a worse shape, his confidence is all over the place he fights differently and he is no longer Ubereem to top it off, if Brock from the Hunt fight shows up he will take him down and I'm telling you he won't eat to many punches before Reem crumble he ain't one for a comeback either he is either the hammer or the nail.

Perhaps he could have been the best Heavyweight, but who the fuck cares about HW. Tim Sylvia is one of the all-time greats in that division.

But there's not enough of a sample size regarding Overeem during that time period against high level MMA fighters. Duffee, Rogers, Werdum, Lesnar. Duffee sucks. Rogers sucks. He looked like shit in the Werdum fight, rumour has it because he was drug tested heavily leading up to it, and his camp was leery about having him do his regular gear cycles. Lesnar was coming off a long layoff. Overeem's career ended after that (No, no one cares about him afterwards). He was literally a product of massive amounts of gear. Went from mediocre journeyman, to top ranked fighter, right back to mediocre.

The K1 Grand Prix was fun but K1 was about as shoddy an organization as there was.

Imo lesnar best was vs randy

Randy at 220 and 45 out wrestled him but Brock caught him and that started the hype train

Hunt, Cro Cop, Duffee, Rogers, Werdum, Lesnar, Hari, Spong, Aerts, and Saki are cans? And we're talking about the 2009-2012 versions of these fighters. What planet you living on?

Hari, Spong, and Werdum were legit opponents at the time (Werdum as it turns out was severely underrated). But he actually had 2 fights with Hari, one of which he lost via TKO. His win over Werdum was rather unimpressive, as it showed that he was pretty much terrified to go to the ground. Those other opponents were going through low points in their careers. Hunt was definitely in can territory at that point in his career. Reem also didn't beat Crop-cop (it was a N/C). Anyway, Cro-cop lost his mojo after getting "Cro-cop'd" by Gonzaga. I recall that he had to see a sports psychologist. Rogers and Duffee were just Johnny-come-lately punchers. Lesnar was never that great, and he was diminished by his diverticulitis troubles. In short, Reem's streak was padded with a lot of fading legends and overrated cans.

The only non-finish was when a prime Werdum was literally begging him to not strike and to grapple. Also won the K1 Grand Prix and had K1 wins over Badr Hari, Peter Aerts x2, Tyrone Spong, and Gokhan Saki during that time frame.

It's not just who you beat it's how you beat them.

He kneed Fujita into oblivion and almost a coma.

He ragdolled a 265 lb Brett Rogers and beat the fuck out of him. The same Rogers who just knocked out 29 year old Arlovski and gave Fedor a tough fight.

He dispatched young stud Todd Duffee in seconds. The same Duffee who had 3 UFC wins in less than 3 minutes combined.

A prime Werdum was so scared all he could do to avoid being KO'd was flop around and beg Overeem to come to the ground the entire fight

He then kicked Lesnar so hard in the liver he made him quit the sport.

Werdum is close to Roger Gracie level bjj in mma and not far behind in bjj

Different fighters Mir has surprised me few times but he isn't elite level bjj or stand up

He submitted Hunt when Hunt was 5-3 and hadn't trained a day of BJJ in his life. I personally rate his recent victory over Hunt much higher.

The Werdum fight was an absolute shitshow and Werdum blew his knee out in the fight and couldn't even stand up after a while. Overeem literally laid on Fabricio in half guard to win the bout, not at all impressive.

I cannot say anything against his kickboxing run, he did very well for a guy who isn't a true professional kickboxer.
