That's just not true. Most of the continent either lacks a proper water table or needs to undertake significant efforts to purify the water that is available. Many jurisdictions, despite not having the infrastructure to even disperse water to most of the population, will run out entirely during droughts. That means that even with only a fraction of the population being served, they still don't have enough water at times. Compare that to what we often consider a drought in the United States, where we're pissed we can't water our lawns.

You also have the problem of what few resources there are (and they are more localized than you seem to think) being often controlled by warlords and, well, their presence becomes a moot point. Suggesting Africans were always backward and poor simply does not reflect the truth. Ethiopia and Egypt were cultural powerhouses. Mansa Musa was one of the richest and intelligent men ever to live. Africa's problem is that Europe has exploited them for centuries, and if you think it has stopped you're fooling yourself.

Also flying in the face of your argument is the fact that most of the world's fastest developing economies are in Africa. Botswana and South Africa, for instance, are now no longer third world countries.

I'm sorry, evolution has been almost entirely disproved and dismissed by modern science? I can see why you're no longer pre-med. If you're somehow implying that evolution and natural selection doesn't apply to humans you must be following a religious-like dogma. A singular 'human' race does not exist. Just because we can interbreed with each other doesn't mean our differences aren't gigantic. Racialism better known as Scientific Racism is regarded as a fringe and discredited view by the scientific community. The American Anthropological Association and American Psychological Association have come out with statements denouncing it. Only a few scholars still conduct racialist research claiming that there are racial hierarchies in intelligence and the two main proponents, Rushton and Jensen recently died.

The scientist you are referring to James Watson, the co-founder of DNA, did make some controversial statements about Blacks being intellectually inferior a couple of years ago. He was heavily criticized and forced to resign. He's also known for proposing a lot of wacky theories which he doesn't back up with any evidence.
