I've never understood why these are still around. Those Pride marches make gay people look bad. It's like an adult video awards festival atmosphere and attire. The worst kind of people show up and make spectacles of themselves.

Simply put, I'm not a big fan of them either. But if they feel it helps bring awareness and anti-discrimination, who I am to say no. It really doesn't bother me. But don't be mad when I could care less if you have a parade and I'm not out there marching in a pink dress.

Is Mardi Gras supposed to be a heterosexual pride rally to celebrate and promote being straight? I don't get the comparison. Lots of gay events are held at Mardi Gras and do the same stuff. Pride events are supposed to represent and celebrate the gay lifestyle and culture. I don't know why they want to be equated with the kind of weirdos who show up to them is the point.

Why do you care? If the “porn like environment” is your true issue, and people who promote or attend a highly sexualized public event is your issue, then Madi gras certainly does compare.

Sorry. I thought the whole goal was for gay folks to make people aware that they are like anyone else, which is my experience. At these marches you got some middle-aged bald weirdo showing up all oiled up and wearing leather chaps holding the chain of a pink dog collar around his teenage lover's neck. I don't see that as the right message. I've seen two of them and they reminded me more of the atmosphere around the AVN Awards than anything else. It's like heterosexuals using that to represent them.

That's why I have never said or been quoted saying differently. I'm all for the grace of God allowing people to make their own choices. But if you are going to pretend that this lifestyle leads to an old, wise, prosperous life, you won't find much evidence. Many of these people are deeply depressed. I know it's hard to fathom that I can disagree with their choices, while not standing in the way of their choices. But it is what it is. I love them and I want the best life possible for them. But I disagree with the path they're on. I don't even vote so my opinion is all I have to give and that's what I'm giving. If you don't like it please afford me the same freedoms they enjoy when they want to march for their cause.

It's a topic on the message board... Maybe in past decades it drew a better class of people, not just the political radicals and exhibitionists, but that's who shows up to them in the 21st century from what I've seen. And I think they don't promote a positive image of gays, so on topic, maybe the UFC should not worry about getting involved with this stuff, even if WME has lots of Hollywood people on board.

Damn .... has anybody actually been to one of these festivals ? I've never had the urge to, but I ran into one accidentally in the central business district of Auckland.

New Zealand has had a bunch of them on an annual basis, and let me tell you right now. It's fucked up.
If I was a gay dude, I wouldn't want other people representing my sexual orientation in a way the pride march depicts. I would prefer to be ingrained into societal norms as another human being, far from the image the pride portrays. Guys showing up in torpedo speedos, old creepy fucks in leather showing up with bare minimal clothing, transgenders, etc. It's that type of outlandish shit that people fence themselves from accepting gays into their normal beliefs.

If a dude wants to fuck a dude, all the more power to them...But keep it civilized. Me and the wife wouldn't parade around half naked in front of kids whilst acting overly sexualized.

That's another thing, let kids fucking be kids. Bringing a 6 year old to these events just seems tasteless. Go support them, but leave the kid at home with his toys and a sitter. When the little one is old enough he will start asking more in-depth questions about it. You're not educating a kid by bringing him to see a 70 year old in a rainbow thong with his junk flopping around carelessly.
