just for the note, ronda's coach called another excellent gameplan, jessica took a minute to put it into action; but she had hug advantages in regards to technical skills on the feet, not just the legitimate punching/kicking (slipping-countering-attacking-defending). But in gauging range, managing range, footwork, positioning; she also had huge physical adv in regards to hand/footspeed, reaction times, strength, power, explosiveness; the whole plan was pot shot, singular/accurate shots, which would land clean and w/power.
This allows you to land big shots, w/out opening yourself up for the takedown (clinch/shot); it allows you to land big, get out and get position to land another big shot and force your opponent to reset before they can effectively defend or attack.
jessica could have done it earlier if she would have stayed on her toes, pivoted instead of backing up; then she could have kept turning roxy and walked her into shots instead of getting put up against the fence and dragged down.
the second rd she got it right, but roxy was dead on her feet; an the min jessica touched her it was over. Most people have never sparred a very good amateur or pro boxer; much less a world champ, even a person who isn't a big hitter..hits way harder than the avg person and mma fighter. That isn't even taking into account the huge tech gap in punching technique (rotation, timing, placement); jessica could have killed her, she essentially hit her like time and roxy was DONE... That girl was finished after that slam and left hook..fight should have been stopped then.
sidenote-i have sparred golden glove champs-national-world champs (and they were going easy on me) and they were so f**king face and beat me the f*ck up going very very easy. Can't imagine taking those kind of shots from a pro boxer/champ who is trying to put you out...cus i got dropped by sh*t alot lighter than that w/less intent..
