Apparently I owe you an apology.
Its been verified Conors people are in talks with Canelos people...
Conor apparently feels there is no big money fight for him in the UFC and he must strike while the iron is hot.
SO...that all being said....I think Conor feels like he became the star he wanted to become, as large as he could in the MMA world. Now I kind of see his point that where does one who achieved such greatness go from there. Where the money is and that is boxing. So it makes sense. It is of course outrageous to the typical fan. In the end its about making the most money for your family. UFC doesnt offer such.
For the record. Canelo will finish McGregor in the 2nd round face plant KO
I could go back months, to before Conor and Floyd was actually a thing, and I said then that if Conor fought Floyd, he would never step foot in the Octagon again, and was ridiculed for it. I also said, given that scenario, that it was doubtful Conor ever fights again. He isn't going to make those $75mil checks in the UFC, and once he got a taste of that he would never return to fight for $3mil, but the UFC will never release him from his contract, and thus we have a stalemate.
However, if the money is right, for the UFC, ala Floyd, then they might allow him to spread his wings again. But, no matter what happens we will never see Conor in the Octagon again. Something for which I am thankful for. I just wish they would strip him already, and stop with all the interim bullshit. The UFC did this to themselves. Once Conor was under contract, they allowed him to continually dictate who he would fight, where, and for how much. He was the only guy who is more skilled at ducking guys who are fully capable, and deserving, of taking his belt than Bisping. Not sure what happened, but when the Ferrtitas owned it, they never allowed the fighters to run the show, but ever since the sale...well we all see what has happened. The UFC is quickly becoming the laughing stock of professional sports, and is slowly stepping into WWF territory, not to be taken seriously. All of Conor's antics has lead to every guy who wins a belt to automatically start calling out "money fights", and doing everything they can to duck and hide from the guys who have actually earned shots at those belts.
We can all sing our praises that Conor vs Eddie was the last we will ever see of him in a cage, unless he suddenly pulls a Jones and gets locked up for something, but I just don't see him being that stupid.
