The GOAT of every Country, Region, State

Wins over Kharitanov, Belfort, Lesnar, Werdum, JDS >> a robbery win over Randleman and a career fighting smaller fighters under strange rules in Japan. Overeem also did a hell of a lot more in Kickboxing.

Would you really pick Bas to beat Reem?
It's not like Bas is a giant himself. By today's standards he'd be fighting at LHW or MW. Just because you don't know the guys Rutten fought in Pancrase doesn't make them cans. The rules were strange, I give you that.

Would I 265 Reem over 205 Rutten? It hink Rutten would have a hard time beating him, yes. I would take Rutten over pre-roid Reem though.

Also, neither Reem's or Rutten's kickboxing credentials have any bearing on how they're ranked in MMA.

Did I say anyone was a can? I've seen a lot of Pancrase you cock sucka. Fact is, Bas was bigger than the majority of them and they had strange rules, exactly as I said.

I never normally mention kickboxing fights in relation to MMA fighters, but I think with them both being Dutch, its fair. Reem achieved more in both sports IMO. Nothing to be ashamed of for Bas, he was just from a different era and has been surpassed.

Also, I would say that Rory McDonald is as worthy of mention as Alan Belcher or Din Thomas- why not add a province or two for Canada?
This might be the case for other countries too.
After doing the list for Brazil, and not really finding enough quality fighters to fill-out that many of the states, I called it a day. And I didn't do one for Japan, how could I do one for Canada?

But alright...
So Canada has 13 Provinces & Territories, right?

And if I'm going to do Canada, I should really go one more level and do one for the state of California...

Yup, not trying to get all nationalistic or anything, just noting that limiting some countries to one fighter when others have dozens thrown in can skew the list. I don't think you need to do every state/province of every country, just those with notable fighters.

Finland: Anton Kuivanen, Karja Kankaanpaa or Sauli Heilimo. Makwan with a win over Wilkinson takes the honor. Hopefully we can produce better talent in the future, there are some decent prospects like Aleksi Nurminen and Janne Elonen-Kulmala.

I still consider Tom Niinimäki over those guys and a girl even with his habit of getting choked in the ufc. Makwan would be already but I guess people of Kurdistan don't cound under these rules lol. Even if they dont have heir own country.

Teemu Packalen too.
But Makwan is Iraqi

So do we have a consensus on Finland?
Remember the list is based on Place of Birth.

I only know Makwan Amirkhani (from the MMA Roasted podcast with Adam Hunter, and reputation).

Australia = Robert Whittaker
No Mark Hunt love?

Oops, just noticed place of birth. We're both wrong. It probably has to be George Sotiropolous.

I haven't done as thorough of a job with Brasil as I did with the U.S.... but with a quick check...

Thiago Alves is from Fortaleza, Ceará (added to the list).
Ceará -- Thiago > Rony

Scotland - Stevie Ray
England - Michael Bisping
Northern Ireland - Norman Parke?
What's the deal with the United Kingdom anyway? Ya got "The U.K."... "Great Britain"... "Britain"... "England"... "The United Kingdom or Great Britain and Ireland"... what the fook, mate?

As far as I can figure, England, Scotland, N.Ireland, and Wales are all called "countries" but it's the U.K. (all together) that's really the "sovereign state."
