I think they are using some kind of hidden technology to cause kickers to make or miss field goals and extra points. People missing extra points that don't miss extra points, making 60 yard FGs after missing extra points, bouncing of the post and not going in the close the game out in dramatic fashion.

I think they are doing this to make the game more entertaining and so they can control the story line. If they have some kind of tech to control the ball it's an easy way to accomplish those goals.

It's the beginning of how they are going to phase kicking out of the game. 280 lb athletic freak behemoths destroy each other for 3 hours and then the game is won or lost because of a 175 lb guy who was cut from the soccer team. They don't like that.
