Poor things is the worst movie I have seen in the past decade

I've resorted to checking out forums and seeing what people I have some similar tastes to enjoy, but I also check out trailers, clips and if it's an older movie I'll skim through the movie if a search engine can find it to check out a few scenes (of course trying to avoid real spoilers or at least ones I'll remember).
The IMDB forums used to be great (the written reviews have always been so/so), but Amazon shut them down when they bought IMDB to kill off criticism (some major movies were seeing a lot back then).
Yep I wrote reviews and was part of the forums. Didnt know Amazon bought them but now it makes even more sense.

JLaw was less of a shocker because she was topless and bottomless in Red Sparrow. Emma Stone is a shocker because she was so likeable in Spider-Man and only showed one boob briefly prior to this movie.

Cutie Katherine Waterston showed beaver, but too brief.
She was in directors previous film The Favourite which whilst not as graphic as this had nudity in it, not to mention her in a lesbian relationship with queen Ann.

Again I tend to think the issue is this film is a relatively rare(although perhaps becoming more common) example of arthouse cinema crossing over into mainstream Hollywood. I think that divide tended to build up post millenium as Hollywood films became generally safer, less graphic, less edgy, etc and you tended to get a situation were Hollywood stars would have divided careers.

People like Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Stewart, etc doing arthouse stuff which a lot of sex/nudity in it and people like Lea Seydoux who have careers with lots of it involved getting cast in big Hollywood films like Bond.

Have you seen Yorgan Lanthimos’ other films? His style is very unique and definitely not for everybody, I think he Is excellent though personally. Haven’t seen Poor Things yet but I’m sure it’s very odd and absurd like his other films, I really appreciate original film making, especial rn in a time when most movies that come to theaters are franchises, remake, reboots, or just something super generic.
Is he better than Gaspar Noe? That guy makes the best porn movies and tries to pass them off as art. Fucking awful.

i like Noe, but yes, Lanthimos is a superior filmmaker.

Emma Stone doing full frontal and sticking an apple up her vag is not an Oscar worthy performance.
Excuse me, what? I know you said it's a bad film but for this alone I might have to watch it.

The internet says Amazon purchased IMBD in 1998. The imdb forums died far later than that(2017).

Did that apple go all the way in?

Was there a stem?

Nearly every thread about tv or movies in here turns into this “Woke people and Rotten Tomatoes, wah, wah, wah” shit.”

I have never seen so many fucking cry babies worry so much about what other people think of movies or tv shows.

Here’s how I decide if I want to watch a movie: I watch the trailer and read the synopsis. If it looks good, I watch it. If it doesn’t, I don’t.

Having your own opinions doesn’t get likes, (unless it’s from me) and that’s what really matters

The worst movie I've seen in the past year was Barbie. I had to turn it off 45 minutes in.
i pushed myself to watch it. took me like 4 tries.
afterwards i felt like everybody was doing a joke on me, talking how the movie is great and all. jesus fucking christ.

Seriously, the True Detective thread, this thread, every fucking thread, is just littered with these guys claiming “woke is ruining this thing!”

Why aren’t the kids telling them to keep that shit in the War Room?

I’d imagine they’d spend all day carding and reprimanding if they did, it’s an epidemic of the brainless.

She's shown a lot more than that in past movies. Worth checking out of you haven't yet.
I know she showed slow moving boobs and split second beaver in the Joaquin Phoenix movie. What could be "a lot more" than that? In Apple TV+ Slow Horses most recent season's first episode, her co-star got to see everything, but not the camera.
