Is Stephen Curry the 2nd Greatest PG of All Time?

How is it not true?

Thomas: 27 and 7 on 60% TS, 117 ORtg, 23 turnovers
Walmart: 25 and 10 on 49% TS, 107 ORtg, 28 turnovers

Do you realize how bad you have to be shaating to have a sub-500 TS%?

Do you know how hard it is to shoot well when you get hammered in the paint all series with no calls?

That series was one of the most poorly officiated I've ever seen.

Ah gotcha, a ref conspiracy. Despite the fact that Wizcans had more FTAs for the series lmao

brb let me make a video of John Wall getting clipped on the arms and hit on the head over and over under the basket without a whistle.

If you watched the games, you would know what I'm talking about.

Don't get salty because someone doesn't think Stephanie is the "2nd best point guard of all time".

I watched the games and I saw Walmart chuck 6 threes/gm at 29% lmfao

And I'm not a Steffy fan

WallGOAT shot poorly (mostly in the first half of games as the series went on, where he had some really horrendous 1st half shooting performances) but that had literally nothing to do with IT. But shooting is WallGOAT's greatest deficiency. If you focus on it, you're going to underestimate his value. He had way more assists, twice as many steals, 5x as many blocks, more rebounds. Declaring that he got 'brutally outplayed' in a series where neither team could win on the road is nonsense. They took turns outplaying each other. Their duel in Game 2 was awesome.

The only shots Wall could get off clean were mid-range and threes. He's not a great shooter. I don't think anyone would argue that he is. Even the commentators were getting heated in that series over the reffing.

He shat below 40% from the floor and below 30% from 3 while chucking 23 shats/gm. His opponent put up 27 and 7 on excellent efficiency. I don't care how many assists he compiled by default, he got brutally outplayed

Jizards had more FTA

If you're gonna insist ref conspiracy then there's no point in discussing this

I'm not calling it a "conspiracy" or even rigged. Just poorly officiated.

I can't count how many no-contact whistles were blown when Horford or Thomas missed shots, and the amount of no-calls when Wall would drive and get hammered in the paint.

My favorite commentator quote from the series: "Let's take a look at the replay, I didn't see much contact. Nope... Nope. Horford just missed the shot."

Scott Brooks on the Olynyk/Oubrey incident: "When you're taking shots to the head every night, no one calling them, you're bound to snap."

You know as well as I do that it's not how many are called, but what is called, when, and where.

Jizards should've swept that series but all I remember is them blowing 20 point 1st quarter leads and Walmart chucking up 3s and fading late in games

I thought the play by Horfag to injure Marqueef was dirty and argued with @RedCansLoom16 about it but overall I thought it was reffed right down the middle

wall would've dominated in the 90s and earlier, where his one notable flaw (outside shooting) is mitigated by the lower overall 3pt FGA

especially if he was teamed w/ an elite big w/ a post game

At this point I'd say Curry is slightly below Mark Price but we'll see how the rest of his career goes.

Plus Curry is such a late bloomer from his glass ankles that he never really got started until year 3 or 4

Clearly it's Sebastian Telfair. Nobody had an arsenal of weapons like him

Was Magic Johnson a PG? Isn't he 6'9 how can he be PG?
Because he ran the offense and distributed the ball, i.e. the actual function a PG. Although, you probably classify him as a Point Forward. It's just semantics. Magic was more of a PG than a 6' ISO/scoring specialist like Kyrie.

I'll take these PG all time over Curry as follows: Magic, Isiah Thomas, Big O, and Kidd. John Stockton, Steve Nash, Gary Payton are tough for me to pick over Curry but certainly debatable.

Curry is greatest shooter ever though by far and away nobody has case over him.

he CLEARLY is.

the entire offense runs through him. his layup package is incredible. he can take hits. quick shooter. 2 time MVP. 2 time champion. lead the leagues best regular season team of all time. cooked everybody who came his way. AND took a step back to let other players thrive.

of course he is. anyone saying otherwise is just blinded by the golden years

Depends on the team. I don't know who I would put in his place that would make the warriors better. The same probably wouldn't hold for other teams. On a team with weak passers, I probably would choose Isiah or Magic Johnson. Probably, Magic Johnson in most cases if I was building a team. Curry is legit though and a better passer than he was earlier in his career.

I think the thing that makes people underrate him is that everything he and the warriors do is counter to conventional wisdom. The three pointer hasn't until recently been the cornerstone of a championship team. Passed wisdom was defense and inside scoring.
