Is Stephen Curry the 2nd Greatest PG of All Time?

I think there is genuinely an argument that he's on the way to even overtaking Magic Johnson.

Early days, but Steph is arguably the best shooter in NBA history, that alone puts him in the argument. Then you consider the 3 back to back finals, and 2 rings, throw in the MVP award and it's getting interesting.

Magic would never have won without Kareem, and the same can be said for Curry not winning the second ring without Durant.

I think Steve Nash is a good argument for being ahead of Steph though, and I of course would rank Magic above Curry also.

I just think that top 3 is getting very, very tight.

No offense to Curry, but his success is as much a product of this era in the NBA, as it is to the man himself. Any stats coming out of this era should be taken with a huge grain of salt, given that the league has basically abolished effective team defense. Guys like Stockton, Payton, etc would excelled in any era. It takes a unique set of parameters for Steph Curry to be MVP caliber, though.

As for rings, when your starting line-up is stacked with All-Stars, and there's only two other real teams in the league, you're going to go to the NBA Finals, basically by default.

He's still not clutch enough in the big moments in the finals. He's a great player but he seems to fade like Lebron used to when it matters most. Other then that I have no complaints,

Not even close. No way to tell until he finishes out his career.

(as far as whom i have personally seen play in my lifetime)
Magic
Thomas
Stockton
Kidd
Nash
Stockton

Even in today's NBA i would have CP3 ranked ahead of him (numbers wise, not accomplishments)

When I think great PG, I think playmaking ability first and foremost.. and Steph isn't even fucking close.

John Wall is a better PG than Steph.

Kidd? C'mon now.

Nash? Never even been to a finals let alone 3 straight. Steph has better stats as well.

Stockton? Great passer, great defender but...0 rings, 0 mvps, never the #1 guy on his team.

CP3? He's got to accomplish something...anything...before being ranked ahead of steph.

The only one with a real case over Steph is Magic and then I'd say Oscar and Isiah have an arguSteph.

Remember Steph owns the greatest regular season AND post season records.

lmao @ FiTP even being a point guard. He can't even lead his team in assists. He also shrinks in the finals and can't even win FMVP.

John Wall is the best point guard in the league right now, and I don't think it's particularly close.

Umm...no titles, no mvps, no scoring titles, hasn't gotten out of the 1st round yet.

I mean I'm glad you like John wall and all but experts agree...hes no Steph Curry

Best shooting point guard? yes.

Best all around point guard? no.

If we are talking about a true facilitating PG who sets up the team first and then goes for his shot, Kidd and Nash we're head and shoulders the better POINT guards. They might not have the post season accolades, but that is more of team accomplishment especially for a point.

None of that is indicative of whether or not he is a better point guard though. Just stop it.

The job of a PG is to run an offense, not be primarily known as a 3pt specialist a la Steph, or a great iso scorer a la Kyrie. Guys like Stockton, Kidd, etc were the prototypes of what a PG should be. Today's league, however, seems pretty devoid of anything but wingmen.

Just goes to show how much you know or watch basketball. Just this year he got out of the first round and took the Celtics to 7 games in the second round. Stick to the War Room.

I'm just sayin'...show me a point guard other than Magic Johnson with a better resume than Steph Curry

He's gotten out of the 1st round every time he's been in the yoffs. Staph is a better shooter, WallGOAT is a way better pure PG.

Curry got outplayed by Kyrie.
