Sounds like Chicago too. But I'm leaving next year for San Diego because I'd rather live by ocean and have 70 and sunny year round.

Downtown LA is a crappy but there are some cool spots to check out.

Malibu/PCH is awesome. Besides some of the snobby people there, it's all cool besides the $20 beach parking.

lol i never said it was wonderful.... It can get pretty dirty, lots of homeless people at night , expensive as fuck and ppl have a horrible attitude. Still better tham what ive seen from the streets of downtown la ive walked.

malibu was nice, palos verdes where my bud lives is nice too, i went to blizzard headquarters in irvine and it was nice. I liked california , just not the downtown area.

Anyway, my old man lives in LA so I'm there often. LA is about 20 percent nice and 80 percent shit. Seems like it's getting worse too. Maybe another severe economic downturn will change things or a complete shift in local politics. It's a mess yet they continue to successfully peddle the Hollywood dream. I think the standard of living will devolve eventually to a point where the city loses its top spot in the minds of the people. It's starting to happen already.

Lol, I'm just going to trade places with the paralegal that just moved here from San Diego. In fact, I'm sure plenty of people move from there on a yearly basis for Portland and Seattle.

Do you think people will continue to overpopulate the burbs because of it? There's not really much by way of building space there. Most other major cities that's what happens, then the city frantically tries to turn things around when everyone with money leaves.
 
LA is awesome where else can you surf, snowboard, mountain bike all in one area, and have world class restaurants; bonus of having a new crop of pretty girls who move to LA every year to be famous. Every downtown in the major US cities has a skid row, so I fail to see what is so unique to LA having a one. San Diego is also full of the destitute. Besides with the sunny weather, little rain, dry heat, and no bugs SOCAL in general is a great place to be homeless. Some pretty LA women.

I am always amazed at all the Rubes who move to LA to be famous and do not want to go home, or all the ex-military Inbred shitbags that stay in San Diego and Ventura. Texas is the main exporter of Inbred military lowlifes. I mean if California is so shitty why do they stay here?

You sound like a fresh transplant my dude, maybe a few years in at best. Socal has its perks but if you're from the area you'll understand the dip in QOL. If you're rich it's great but even then you can't get around the crowds.
