downtown la is absolutely terrible

He is going to have a hard time going to a chargers game all the tickets already sold out you can only buy them from re sellers like stub hub sucks for the non bandwagon fans.
That soccer stadium money. Those bandwagoners are bound to hop off once the Chargers commence to Charger in the new city. By the time he puts the money together for the trip, there may be open seats that he should avoid.

Bad part is, my newfound dislike for them is probably a sign that they'll suddenly learn how to maintain a lead

Is that why america is the greatest nation on earth ?

You might not be stupid but that post sure is

America's greateness was basically 2000 and before and that is because of the unified culture of white, middle class culture that put man on the moon, that existed between 1920 and 1990.

Then, the 90's bought in PC, gender/race baiting, all that other bull shit and we've been in a decline ever since.

There is NO ROOM for multiculturalism in America. Every race is welcome to join the 'leave to it Beaver" culture/mindset, but that's where it must stop.

BTW, I'm not white so you can stop right there with the race bait attempt.

One thing I don't understand about Americans is that it seems a majority of conservatives freely claim the US to be the greatest country on earth, but will shit on pretty much every city of importance as being a liberal shithole, the same cities that provide all the technology, innovation, finance, culture and pretty much anything that makes the US a country of note. If it's not these "garbage" cities that makes America great, what exactly does? Sarah Palin's "real America" of some shitty town in Buttfuck, Iowa that nobody has ever heard of? Makes no sense.

I was in LA cause my plane to japan departs from lax. My bud lives in palos verdes and was my tour guide for the weekend.

To my surprise i liked it a lot , for the most part is clean and people is nicer than ny. I had a pleasant stay. Uber and food are way cheaper here than ny.

That being said, downtown la is an absolute shithole full of junkies, trash and the whole place smells like shit. Why? has it always been like that? Venice beach is trash as fuck too.

Im in tokyo now for the first time. It truly is the pinacle of civilization. Clean, developed , organized, great food. Its an amazing country.

Lol i mean wtf did you expect? Its like most downtowns of major cities. Manhattan aint that much nicer either.

Also, it doesn't help that LA has beautiful weather which retains most of the bums that come to this city.

Freedom and space breh, how much freedom do you have in a place like tokyo or Beijing. Not everybody is ecstatic to live in a crammed 10-story apartment just for the sake being able to say they "live in the city," that shit is ultra ghey

Condos cost a shitload down there too. There's one off Olympic if you peek in the garage you'd shit your pants. Bugatti, Aston Martin, Ferrari. Most inexpensive vehicle maybe an AMG. You can absolutely get asked for change steps from the building lol

A city the size of LA has it's less than nice spots. Who would have guessed.

In another country. They probably have similar laws to those cities that don't allow people who are homeless to live anywhere. How hypocritical is that? The same people who talk about wanting small government also want the government to arrest people simply because they are homeless and they exist.

So what should we do with them? They have to live somewhere. Talikng shit about "liberal sanctuary cities" and blaming every single problem any major American city has on liberals sounds great as long as you don't think. But once you think about it for a second you realize how fucking stupid that is.

Nah, a weak liberal government does make for shitty cities. You have a right to exist, you don't have a right to shit and piss and sleep in the street. You don't have a right to charge people to open public doors for them, or clean your windshield after they spit on it. You don't have a right to drink and do drugs in public.
When I was growing up, 42nd street was a drug and crime haven. A strong Mayor turned it into a family friendly tourist area. The homeless were put in shelters and mental health facilities were utilized as well. Cops didn't allow the harassing windshield washers, or door holders and ticketed beggars (who are mostly con artists).
Fast forward to a weak liberal Mayor and all the beggars and homeless are back. The quality of life crimes are ignored, and there are areas you stay away from. A liberal mayor that allows nude women in Times Square that charge for pictures. Allows tent cities in public parks that were once for kids to play in.

Tokyo?

I assume they have cleaned it up since I was there in 2003 because that was the dirtiest(in terms of litter) city I have ever been to.

Hiroshima was the cleanest city I have ever seen

Growing up in Southern California I can tell you right now all of Southern California has gotten out of control . Just more and more people all over . However yes most of LA is a shithole that I would never want to live in again. I lived in Santa Monica in a baller pad for just 2 years is all I could handle or else I would of ended up a Charlie sheen status wannabe . I was doing Coke ,Banging clubs skanks and escorts. Fast pace living that at the end of the day unless you're balling In the hills or Beverly Hills fuck that shit. Don't even get me started on skidrow and shit I got stories for days . I went to jungle rave underground parties back in 1997 and it was nuts and super sketchy back then. I saw a guy get shot after a club right In front me . It was in the middle of a 3 way gang war on Crenshaw and 18th street.
Imagine frying in acid seeing crackheads approaching you in the middle of the night.
Venice beach I ditched class back in 1999 and we drove up just to buy a bong from all the head shops there. Venice was actually pretty decent up to 2005ish and then it was over especially with the medical weed wannabes taking over. Place turned into pure weirdo skitzo trash. Feel bad for tourists there now .
What about fucking Glendale Armenian Mecca bro ? Holy shit that place is a disaster you will have Mercedes Benz leased out bros all over you.
Pasadena is alright .
Long Beach used to be alright . Turned into ghetto gay nightmare .asian wannabe thugs and tweakers everywhere .
You really want to see some shit come to Santa Ana in the oc . Basically little Mexico . The most illegal aliens in the nation. 16 year old Mexican chicks walking around already with 2 babies and shit .

Meth meth meth

man you speak the god's honest truth

usa is not the greatest country in the world, bud. Ive lived in murica and been sent to australia, denmark and norway for work and those countries are a step ahead in many areas. Im here in tokyo and i feel ashamed of the piss poor old ass trains we have in ny with the old ass vending machines that eat your money. Also the lack of effective ground transportation service to go from state to state is a shame. Murica is a great country but you ve been fed a lie with that "murica is the greatest nation phew phew" crap.

Even trump said it, it is a shame that usa is so many steps behind with their airports, trains, health service, etc. I hope thay changes for the better.

america for sure has a lot to work on. i feel some of the criticism is unwarranted though, since america is A LOT bigger than the countries you mentioned in comparison. it's easier to make large changes with a population that is both more homogenous, and a lot smaller.

Lots of hyperbole in this thread. Downtown not great, that's true. The city is putting more effort into cleaning it up and developing it, it's getting there and will be cool in a few years.

Venice is a tourist trap, so ya businesses are cheap there and it's full of gross looking tourists so degenerate street merchants go there to prey on the weak. All the riffraff and run-aways from the flyover states want to run away to a nice place so they get off the bus there. Go a few miles up the PCH and Malibu is one of the most beautiful places in the country.

Homelessness isn't that bad. I've worked for a travel show for seven years and been to most states and cities in the US. Poverty and crime seem to be as bad if not worst in many of the cities in the fly over states.

LA is awesome. I hung out with Keith David and had coffee this week, caught waves in Malibu and camped on the beach (saw a whale and dolphins), ate at one of the best rated restaurants in the country and checked out Jessica Alba in person, got trained by Antoni Hardonk at kickboxing, and might see Chance the rapper tonight. Don't think I saw any homeless folks.

oh yeah, it was pretty damn cheap. For the price its a bargain. Way better than Mcd's and Bk. Its a toss up with Wendys tho.
It's all about Tommys burgers in LA

Lol California has a lot of greatness and beauty we also aren't dealing with tornados or hurricanes right now or ever.
Just uncontrolled wildfires and a incoming massive earthquake. Calis fault lines are gonna feel the effect from mexico's 8.1 earthquake.

Seattle has shit weather and it's bum city. It's because you don't enforce your fucking drug laws and you're lax on drugs on general.

If you just walked up to every homeless dude and checked his pocket for smack, you could clear out the homeless in a day.

I don't think of a city like Dallas as being especially progressive, but it's certainly a major American city.

It's also considered the second most liberal city in Texas, and voted Democratic in the election. It's certainly more center left than Portland, but I don't think it could really be counted as a conservative right city.

Take a look at how New York was cleaned up and made to be a much safer place while Rudy Giuliani was in office.
Liberal policies are usually too lenient on crime in big cities.
Bleeding hearts are not what's needed when dealing with such large populations in crappy areas.

I can agree with that, although Giuliani has been a Democrat and Independent before too. He did a great job as Mayor during that time period, but I've also read that it wasn't all due to his policy. There was already a downturn in crime nationwide in major cities during his time, with NYC having the downward trend starting several years before him starting under Mayor Dinkins who was a Democrat. It was the downturn of the crack epidemic, and the economy was turning around. Interestingly, San Francisco had the biggest drop in crime during that time.

And of course NYC hasn't voted Republican for Presidential elections in forever. It does seem that Manhattan was one of the largest Republican donors to Bush Sr and Jr, but the other neighborhoods out vote them. It's not really too surprising with Wall St up there. When it came to the 2016 election, the only major county Trump won was Suffolk, which was only by 50k votes. He lost his home county, Manhattan, by 515k votes only pulling 65k votes.

I do agree that certain Democratic policies aren't very effective at crime deterrence. I'm not too sure how much better Republicans are at solving issues in these major cities. Urban areas with poverty just tend to have high crime rates.

wildfire doesn't affect anyone on the coast which is where most people are .

most californians never see a wild fire IRL and we haven't had in earthquake that mattered in 25 years I will takes both those things over tornados and hurricanes.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Never been to L.A. but seems the place that would have a lot of homeless and/or poverty on the streets. Seen it in documentaries, films and news. I live in England and I know it is not L.A. [or the U.S. for that matter] but when I was in Toronto, Canada, the amount of homeless people shouting walking down the street or just being a public nuisance... we don't get that in England. I don't know why. They may be locked up or put in rehab or it might just be a cultural difference but it would be an everyday occurrence in Toronto to hear some homeless person shouting.

The thing with L.A. is it's a city. There's a lot of poverty in cities in general, especially in the U.S. Poverty tends to bring down neighbourhoods as you normally get pockets of poverty. Is enough being done to create jobs to get more money into the economy, more disposable income, to regenerate parts of the city?
